  1. Hello Low Carbers!

I followed a low carb lifestyle several years ago. I am now the proud owner
of a pot belly that is giving me uncomfortable clothes, sleepless nights,
and a sore back. I have decided the ONLY way to get this pot belly out of
here is LOW CARB. My question is this: today is Tuesday and I am
considering starting tomorrow. The problem is that as I remember it the
first 3 days of induction are pure 7734 (read upside down to get the
meaning). No big deal except that I am going out of town for a Braves game
friday and saturday and it will be very difficult to LOW CARB with all that
travel AND temptation, after being on induction for only 2 days. So...

    In your personal opinion...

Should I go ahead and start tomorrow knowing I will probably have a
massively hard time and essentially have to restart on Sunday, or should I
wait until Sunday to start and spare myself the 7734 of what is to come?

    Thanks for your input.

    1) There's no time like the present. How wide is your sense
of the present? Sounds corny but my sense of the presence
includes all of the acts in a small project. If it takes me
3 hours to clean the garage, "the present" is a 3 hour window
for me then. Would a multi-day trip count as one extended
present? It doesn't stretch that far for me.

    2) There are groups that do Monday morning weigh-ins, so
that makes a good point to start. Shop for your week-one
groceries that weekend and start out with your house properly
    stocked.

I say enjoy the game and the trip. Come home and go grocery shopping on
sunday and get off to a nice start on Monday. If you start monday you can
give yourself a buffer day to get rid of tempting junk in the house, stock
the fridge with good LC foods and make a plan for the week ahead. If you
work outside the home you may want to make lunch and snacks to bring to
work - you can do that all on sunday instead of maybe rushing in sunday
    unprepared.

    Good luck !

By all means, next week. I know you are anxious to get started, but you
fear it. You can't succeed in a lifestyle you fear. Take your time, enjoy
your game, and grow with the plan!

  5. Don't start at all, because you'll just be wasting your time.

Start tomorrow and pig out on meat: burgers, ribs, dogs, etc. And eat your
fill of very low carb veggies. Induction isn't about weight loss, it's
about breaking the carb addiction (mostly). If you eat your fill, you won't
    feel as though you're dieting.

  7. I say start now. I had the same issue last week. I wanted to start on June
1st but knew that I had back-to-back parties to attend this past weekend. I
started last Wednesday, attend the parties. 1st party I was good - except
that I had a few glasses of vodka. Saturday night's party was diffiuclt -
they served pizza and chicken nuggets. I eat them - but didn't over do it.
Got on scale this am for the 1st time in a week and found that I've dropped
6 pounds. My clothes are beginning to feel better already. Start now and
    go for it....

You should start when you're properly prepared and
when you're truly ready to lose weight. If you
try to start without having a plan (no menus, none
of the proper groceries, no clue of what you're
doing), you will have a harder time, IMO.
