  1. I was a bit bemused when I called the shop. The guy said "Na mate, I'd be
surprised if they went out the door very soon, you're safe to wait till the
weekend". I'm just thinking "leverage"!! They obviously can't get rid of
them so maybe a few more dollars can be knocked off the price!

there on Saturday. They have 4 OCR zeros with at least two medium sized
bikes and at least one small. There should be something for me with any
luck. I'm not saying where they are!!

    Cheers,

Well I have my old ratty twitch but fast and dearly loved TCR and Kathy
has her brand new very red and gorgeous zero.. so just at the moment we
    aint competition 🙂

The OCR has not the wow factor of the TCR. On the other hand Kathys
bike is a hell of a lot lighter than mine and mine is light.

maybe hold out for a taillight or something thrown in. My experience is
that screwing people on what we all know is a good deal is pointless,
especially if you want service. THey cant be making much on em anyway.
And you want them on your side. Up to you tho. 🙂

  4. Hi all,

Sorry for the time between posts. I've been away for a week at a
conference. Just before I left I went to said LBS and had a good long chat
to a different guy there who pointed out rather quickly that the bikes they
had (that I desperately wanted) were either just too big or far too minute
for a good comfortable fit. He wasn't willing to sell one to me on that
basis and I was very grateful for his honesty. I was a bit [censored] but
kicking myself for nat having had a test-ride earlier. Anyway, long chats
continued and I began discussions on an 05 TCR 2 they were flogging for $600
off, that I had also had my eye on every visit. This has a Shimano 105
groupset and a slightly stiffer frame and was exactly the right size. I
took this for a test ride and it felt great. I had a good feelinig about it
and had to go off for a while and pace up and down so I could convince
myself I was making the right move buying it. After all, I had talked
myself into the OCRzero for a week. I finally bit the bullet and handed
over the cash after they fitted the bike and set me up with shoes etc. I
felt very comfortable with the whole deal, and while I didn't end up with
the OCR zero, I came out with a few hundred dollars more in my pocket than
if I'd got my first choice.

Anyway, rode it home immediately (first time in cleats... full of anxiety)
and it went like a rocket! Shat myself at every set of lights as I got out
of my bindings and then struggled to get back in as I took off, but I know
I'll get better with time. Expected a couple of magpies and sure enough
they swooped, but I managed to keep her upright and made it home in one
piece. Spent the next few hours just looking at her! Oooh!

Left for my conference the next day and arrived home last night.
Unfortuately, I caught some nasty cold while I was there and am short of
breath just writing this message, so I didn't get to ride her in today (I
think I'd still be in bed if I had the choice). Next week for certain and
Ride to Work day is coming up so an opportunity to show off as well!

Thanks to all who gave advice. Despite not getting the OCR zero, all info
was very useful and helped me pick the TCR in the end. Frankly, I know I
didn't need the OCR zero but the amazingly reduced price was the driving
forcre behind that particular model. Given the even lower price for the TCR
and the relative quality in the two bikes, I'm chuffed to end up with the
    TCR.

Yay! Hooray for speedy new bikes! Key phrases: "...that I had also had my
eye on every visit", "...was exactly the right size" and "...took this for a
test ride and it felt great. I had a good feelinig about it...". This says
you mafe the right choice. I am, predictably, jealous. *grin*

  6. Yes... I actually bought it to make people feel jealous. I'm glad the money
    was well spent!

Still feeling anxious about routine commuting with a good quality roadie for
the first time. I'll provide occassional updates.

    Cheers,
