are telling us, rather like the case where a 6-yr old was suspended for
kissing a classmate.

You are probably right but its amusing to consider the phone conversation
with the police next time:

A witness to an assault by a driver on cyclist was not investigated by
the cops because they said the witness was not impartial by virtue of
being a cyclist themselves.

This is another case where modern society has gone to pot. Sure,
arresting and charging him seems a little drastic (although he has had
3 previous cautions so he is obviously not worth worrying about) but
due to events prior to this one they have no choice.
If the kid had any respect this wouldnt be a problem, kids dont give
respect from being lightly punished for small incidents.
If the guy, or the neighbours, werent afraid of being arrested for
giving him a slap this wouldnt have happened
If the kid wasnt wholey aware that they can, for the most part, get
away with anything because no matter what the police catch them doing
they wont get more than a slap on the wrist...
If the parents had any sort of control or parenting abilities he
wouldnt be such a pain in the [censored] already....

The list goes on. Many moons ago the kid would have been more worried
that his parents would have heard about it than being caught by the
police. He'd have got a beating at home and thought twice about it. If
he had, back then, got a beating from the guy he "sausaged" he would
have accepted it as par for the course. These days the parents support
them, the police have to be careful not to offend, the neighbours are
scared for their lives that the kid and his mates will come back and
beat them up. This country is going to the dogs.

Yes, I thought so too - the old man apparently is the victim of a series
of attacks. His life is being made a misery, and now when the cops take
action (on a kid who's been in trouble with the police a couple of times
already) they get criticized.

The cops are damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they did
nothing, or just warned the kid, the wailing media would have been going
on about how the police are ignoring yob culture and allowing an old man
to live in misery caused by said yobs.

This does seem to be the case - it cheeses me off. The police need to
come down hard on the smallest of crimes - maybe then criminals (or
potential criminals of the future) would get the hint that they CANT
get away with things. Local scally tried to break into my car - police
knew it was him, had a witness, arrested him - CPS discarded the case
on "lack of evidence" because the witness couldnt say it was him from
a distance but identified him when he got closer, but had lost sight
of him while sprinting from his front kitchen window to the door to
chase him: "witness lost sight, therefore cannot be sure it was him
they saw attempting to break in".

The police were furious, common sense goes by the wayside and the
scallies get let off. They should take the zero tolerance stance of
america, and adopt 3 strikes too.

Since about the age of 8 I've had less sleep than just about anyone I
know. I can function perfectly well on 4 hours sleep these days, any
longer and I feel bloody aweful - headaches all day etc like when you
lie in too long. But even when I was in high school I didnt get to
sleep before 3am and woke up at 7:30. Everyone tells me its bad for
me, I cant help it but I dont see it as a problem either. Other
reasons include noisy neighbours, depression, a few others - dont
jump to conclusions!
