Mmm, there is no local gym!LOL
Sure there is! <G>
Your basement...
That's pretty much it!LOL I have my bench setup, the exercise bike, and a
matted area for Pilates.
Sounds cozy. :-)
I think I'd miss the "eye candy" tho'.
SMAC is a hard core gym and there are LOTS of gorgeous men running
around there!
Quoted message said:Quoted message said:Have you ever shopped at Oshman's?
Shockingly low prices on weight lifting stuff!
No Oshman's here :-( Just Play it Again Sports and Sheel's, which is
insanely overpriced.
Ew!
Road trip anyone?
They also have a website.

Good deal! I'll have to work every other weekend :>(
Been doing that for years so I know how you feel.
It's about damned time I stopped. <lol>
The joys of the medical field, yes? UGH!
<lol>
I'm a lab tech.
You?

I can' t win anyway, I don't gamble either. Not because I have any
issues
with it, it's just a waste of money for me!
You are smart. :-)
The money is better put into mutual funds.
Still a bit of a gamble, but better!
My broker has been making me a solid 10% every year now
for a long time. He's good!
We must accept our limitations ;>😉 Investing is in my future, TG-for so
long now it's just been squeeking by, it's going to feel SO good to be
putting something away.
I know what you mean...
I've been working full time now for 18 years and my salary has finally
gotten to the point where I can have money taken out by the bank and put
into savings. Starting the beginning of this year, I upped it to $400.00
per month but that's also my "overdraft" protection and I've had to use
it a few times. <lol> My property tax and home owners insurance also
comes out of that anually for around $2,000.oo.
If there is any left, I'll kick that into mutual funds.
I had a windfall (inheritance) when my Aunt died and I put $20,000 of
that into investments around 13 years ago, and that is now up to over
$40,000.
It's "unavailable" money so it's not touchable. It'd take a real
emergency to tap into it!
I also have a 401K at the hospital where I work. It builds up slow but
at least it's something! If I can continue to build up my ebay business
over the next 18 years (providing they don't price themselves out of
business!), I won't have to live on a fixed income when I retire. :-)

That's great! My sister plays and does fairly well, but not me-God
doesn't
want me to have money, methinks<G>
Heh. That was just that once! I don't really win often but then, I don't
play as often as I used to! I used to play twice per week regularly. Now
I play maybe 3 or 4 times per month as Texas has upped the odds too much
by screwing around with the games. :-P
It's discouraging.
Ironically, they did that to up the pot so that people would play more.
I don't even pay attention to what the weekly winnings are any more. I
just play whenever I gas up the truck which is 3 ro 4 times per month,
and I spend $5.00.

> Well, you could go back once the kids are off to school?
Again, the issue is availability-nothing close by.
Well, if you have the space, you can get enough stuff at Oshman's for
about $600.00 or so to make a nice little home gym. :-)
That was my orignal plan but it's not worked out yet.
Like I say, I've got a decent setup, the main thing is going to be setting
up a strap system, since the SO won't even be home yet when I have to lift.
(In the morning after work, I'm just toast, no point in even trying, I'd end
up in the hospital)
Get a Smith rack, or build one! :-)

You know it! Pays the bills, though, so I'm not complaining TOO much.
I understand all too well......
I just pray that he gets promoted at some point, to a nice little desk job,

Indeed! ;-D

Our local library is pretty small, but I'll check and see what's
available.
The bike coming along was awesome, makes the cardio more enjoyable for
me.
I know what you mean!
The price was right too. <lol>
Yeah, wasn't it though?? I also recently found out about www.freecycle.org
(might even have been on this list), so I'll be keeping my open on that list
for any good equipment.
It's amazing how many people buy equipment, then never use it and
re-sell it for cheap!
Dad got an eliptical trainer for $5.00 next door.
I don't like those tho'. It's still sitting out back unused.

Honestly, if TV takes your mind off peddling more than reading does,
more power to ya! It's just that I love to read so much and don't get
much time to do it so it's a good incentive to get my fat rear onto the
bike and stay there long enough to do some good.
I like either/or, if something good is on. Most stuff on TV I hate, so a
good book would be handy.
I almost never watch TV anymore......

Quoted message said:Yeah, I can see that. I'm just a climate-controlled kinda gal<G> In the
winter, particularly-no desire to speedwalk through a food of snow!
Oh dear! Me neither! But snow is not an issue in Texas.
104 degree weather is.
We topped out the other day at 108, so I do feel your pain! (That was
supposed to be FOOT of snow, BTW-Freudian slip??G)
ROFL!
At least you don't live in Phoenix!

Upped my BP to 65 last night, went pretty well for my first try! And I'm
upping the squats to 75 tonight-gotta get some fractional plates, 10 more
lbs might just do me in.
Hell. Keep that up and you will outstrip me in Benches in no time!!!
I tossed a bit more weight on yesterday and got BP up to 70 lbs. and
DL's up to 140 on the final set for 6 reps.
I don't do regular squats. I'm using the hack machine until I build up
my legs a bit more, then I'll graduate to Smith squats before doing free
squats.
