theft sting, so I had to see what kind of bike they were using, as well
as what happened. Well, the bike turned out to be a very shiny

neighborhood and within five minutes, some crackhead pedaled off on it.
It was fun watching them arrest this fool for stealing a complete POS.
They set it out again and yet another fool came out of the woodwork

AT $125 for a walgoose, it's only a petty theft. Why do they even
bother. The asshat probably won't even get jail time. They need to use
a real bike so they can go for grand larceny.

Yeah, I've got a pretty lousy cruiser I loaned to a gal who lost her
car. I warned her to keep it locked, since criminals don't discriminate
between the Turners and the beaters.

Good job, but I hope they've got enough dough to afford a decent bike
for the little darling, AND that the kid rides it enough to make the
expense worthwhile. They WERE shopping at Walmart, after all.

I learned to ride on [censored] like Walmart sells, decades ago. My family
couldn't affort anything more. Of course, I won't buy a bike now for
anyone for less than $400, and I don't see that happening any time soon.
(As in, $400 is barely worth spending.)

[censored] bikes have their place. Kids just tooling around the hood don't
need good bikes.

The front wheels may fall off. Theres a law suit out
there against Walmart, no manuals with bikes sold. Unskilled,untrainned
workers putting that junk together. So their unsafe,cheap junk and fools
want to seal them.

Was at wallyworld yesterday to pick up some Oxyclean and decided to
watch the happenings over in bikes. In the 10 minutes I was there, four
of those Schwinn branded monstrosities they call bicycles went out the
door. The kids and the parents both fawning over "what a beautiful bike
it is". One parent had the comment of "you'll be able to jump
everything with that shock absorber". I stayed silent in the corner
just smiling. When I left and began to unlock the crapandfail 1fg from
the bike rack, one of the parents who just made the proud purchase came
up to me. He asked what kind of bike it was. I told him, it's a
mountain bike with one gear, and not exactly the best one. After asking
why I only wanted one gear, he asked how much it cost thinking it would
be cheaper to only buy one gear. When I told him how much a new one
costs (six times the price of the wallyworld special he just bought) he
basically had a heart attack. When he asked why so much, I couldn't
hold back anymore and told him what would probably happen to the bike he
just bought. Said Dad promptly returned the bike to Wally, while the
kid was about to go into tears. One more child saved the agony of being
scared for life.

When asked what he should get his 11 year old, I told him to visit my

There are plenty of bikes at your LBS for 200-230. Sometimes they're almost
the same as the wally world bikes, but a HUGE part of the problem is how
they're put together. I actually stopped somebody at target last time I was
there wheeling a bike out with the fork on backwards and a visibly broken
shifter - they didn't even notice. Darwin at work I guess....
