  1. What do you think about the Shimano WH-R550 Wheelset? I recieved a set for christmas and would like to know what people think about them.

  2. A bit on the heavy side for a prebuilt wheelset (~1850g) but really, really excellent value. The equivalent Mavic wheelset costs double.

I'm in the process of considering a wheelset upgrade, and am facing a hard decision between getting the R550s, and the Dura-Ace wheels (they're 300g lighter, but AU$900 vs. AU$350 for the 550s)

Haven't ridden them but I hear that thay are quite good - MUCH better than the 540's.

    What are your alternatives?

Just started riding on my new Mavic Ksyrium Equipes and I must say that I LOVE them.

Just out of interest....what is the equivalent Mavic wheelset?

After ripping apart three pairs of 535´s when they came out I´m staying away from shimanos concept wheels. That said I got my money back no hassle and I´ve heard they improved them with 540 and now 550 But I DOUBT it!

How do you mean? Are Mavics that much superior to anything Shimano have to offer?

Not that much superior to ANYTHING Shimano have to offer but the entry level Mavic's (Equipes) are about 2 x the cost of the 540's or 550's and about 4 x better.
