When I bought a new Trek mtb in '92 it came with DX hubs. The descending
pecking order at that time was XT, DX then LX, eventually DX was dropped but
I can't remember when.
You'll be pleased to know I'm still riding the Trek as a winter bike
complete with the same DX hubs, although I've replaced the rims several
times and the spokes once!
(The current rims are 221's).
If the rim is good, ie not seriously buckled, the braking surface not
concave and no stress cracks from the spoke holes, the spokes decent and
the hub smooth then there's nowt wrong with it. Whether it's worth 25 squid
I really don't know but it could well be.
