You know, when I got one of those, my kids were quite concerned about which ear it should go on. But
since I run around outside all the time in

My friend was incensed most that anyone that could come up with a word like "correctionist" could be
any judge of the English language.

Yes, but in the U.S. we spell it "imperializm".

By the way, my ex-wife is the daughter of a well-known university professor. When he took a year's
sabbatical at Oxford, the headmistress at Kate's oh-so-proper new school asked her parents if her
speech should be corrected, or were they happy with her accent as it was? (Still, I guess the school
deserves some credit for giving them the choice)

OTOH, there was that story about the kid who, upon being enrolled in school somewhere in the great
American heartland, was immediately assigned to "Special Education" based on the belief he had Down
Syndrome (f/k/a "mongolism"😉. The authorities were somewhat embarrassed when his Chinese-born mother
showed up to complain!
