Coming home this evening, I saw a driver of a red BMW turn left through a light which had been red for at least 5 seconds (I know, it must have been an apparition). As I stopped at the light, the same driver parked in the Blockbusters car park next to the lights -- he got out to post a video into the shop door, so I called to him, "Oi, red BMW driver! Do you know what that is?", and pointed to the light which was still red. Unfortunately, just at that point, a young lad went inside me at the lights and crossed the junction on red; prompting the driver to ask, "Are you going to tell him, too?".

To be honest, unless someone has visibly risked someone elses life, I don't think I'll bother saying anything. Really don't want to end up a statistic for nothing.

Hmm, I usually bite my lip in such cases, experience of verbals to [censored] drivers in the Smoke (and especially a new town near to me) is that they exact retribution on you further down the road.

Just shows it doesn't matter what the vehicle is to be a [censored], whether that's a red BMW or a bicycle.
If every driver on driving newsgroups moaned every time they saw a cyclist running red there'd be a sight more posts ... and vice-versa of course ... 😉

I wouldn't have bothered either if he hadn't been standing there in the car park just across the pavement from me. And why not point out his bad driving? There were peds who were prevented from crossing the junction he'd turned into.

I've noticed several recently, the latest this evening in Covent Garden, driving part way round the 7 dials roundabout, not looking out for oncoming traffic (me) and using a mobile.

More facts come out, cool. I'd have considered chatting to the peds and maybe getting a complaint together about the driving. That'd have been two drivers with one stone.
I just don't want to "face-off" with drivers unless I'm truly angry. And then I really don't, either.

It's a fact - I don't have the URL to hand, but the RAC have a stat that more drivers are using handheld mobiles than before the "ban".
The reason is simple: before the ban, most drivers thought it was illegal, but didn't know the penalty so expected fine + three points. Now they know it's only £30 and no points, they think that's affordable and now know for a fact won't affect their insurance.

Some. But a marked increase in people parking _anywhere_ (blind bend, narrow roads, pinchpoints etc) to answer the phone, because of course, phoning while driving is dangerous. Slap on the hazard lights and slap on the anchors seems to be the approved method.
