One thing that seems to be reoccuring in articles is that if testosterone was taken then other tests from previous and post stage 17 days would also be elevated which are not from the limited info out there. His thyroid condition could be a legitmate arguement since it is directly related to testosterone production?

he didn't have elevated test levels. he had slightly low test levels with atest to epitest ratio of 11:1.

To throw just a bit more dirt on the argument...

They only test the MJ and the stage winners routinely, plus I believe a random check here and there. (Psuedorandom, actually, as LA was the 'random' subject at the start of last year's Tour - what a coincidence)

Floyd bonked badly on the previous stage. Heaven knows what that does to one's metabolism, got to do weird things as the liver starts scavenging for energy wherever it can find something to metabolize.

How many cyclists have ever been drug tested after a bonk? Not many, as most don't come back and win a stage the next day, so there is no reason to test them. Lance bonked badly on Joux-Plane, but he didn't win the next day.
