Is anyone else having server troubles as far as getting out? I sent out a reply to something yesterday and noticed it didn't appear on a server in Kansas city. My local ISP is getting it OK and won't let me read it until it has sent it on to whatever server they use to connect with. Most things go out OK, some just disappear?? Seems to be this group, maybe because of the heavy use. Comments? Bill Baka

I just got this from Luigi, about a half hour after it showed up on another server. It showed up on another about ten minutes after that, but still not on my ISP. Apparently this group, maybe all of them are threaded randomly around the world. I have seen some locally that never made it to the rest of the world. My server article count is about the same as the SF and Kansas City groups, but the available messages do not come out equal by about 2 to 1. So it appears the moral is not to expect fast replies to any posting and no replies to some. Bill Baka

that's the google groups function. It's what happened after Google swallowed the DejaNews archives...you can even post from them (as I did for a while).
The downside is that it takes somewhere between six and eight hours for posts to show up in the Google, so if you check your newsgroups obessively you might not be very pleased.
just go to http://groups.google.com/ and enter the newsgroup you need in the field provided. This one is, of course, rec.bicycles.misc
(It's also great for digging through the archives--an invaluable tool, considering how much experience has resided around here)
