Server troubles

"heavy" use? have you ever looked at the post volume (granted, 99
percen troll) in somewerhere like soc.politics???

More than enough.

that's the google groups function. It's what happened after Google
swallowed the DejaNews archives...you can even post from them (as I
did for a while).

The downside is that it takes somewhere between six and eight hours
for posts to show up in the Google, so if you check your newsgroups
obessively you might not be very pleased.

just go to http://groups.google.com/ and enter the newsgroup you need
in the field provided. This one is, of course, rec.bicycles.misc

(It's also great for digging through the archives--an invaluable tool,
considering how much experience has resided around here)
