  1. Somewhere between the swim repeats, the bicycle mega-miles, the track
workouts, the measured carbos and whatever, the scale, and the gym, the
numerology of workout times and distances, the speedo quandary and the
peeing dilemma, there just might be some playtime called triathlon.
Three women and I, ages 28, 39, 51, 75, went to a Danskin race which has
to be the most user friendly triathlon there is. Here are photos and
    descriptions from each of us:

  4. Hey RUTH!!! It is great to see you are back out there racing and
posting to this group again! I only check this newsgroup from time to
time as it has become a bit ho-hum in the past few years (not
coincidentally, coinciding with Brian W's departure). If you start
actively posting it could become a bit more interesting again.
Otherwise I guess I will have to start checking out the aquarium
newsgroup to enjoy your wit <g>.

Sounds like you all had a great road trip. Danskin races are so much
    fun!

    Hey RUTH!!!

    Hi Laurie!

I've been following your career. Very impressive!

Yes, we had a blast and the two little races I went to with friends
convinced me that that is THE way to go and enjoy myself. My left knee
goes along for the ride and if it isn't cooperative I just ignore it.

Ahhhh, the good old days here. Not only Brian left, but Tricia and
everybody else, many to Dan Empfield's excellent site. But that one is
just too big for me. I like a small community of like-minded and ahem
some very unlike-minded triathlete souls, to read their race reports,
get their opinions on peeing on their derailleurs, and these days
sympathizing with their Speedo woes. The very large group, if you can
call it that, who post to SlowTwitch include some fine and fun people,
but there are just too many.

Over in the Reef group, I bumped into Mike. Small cyber world, indeed.

  6. Nice job. I don't understand all that "speedo quandary and peeing
dilemma" stuff though. I've never needed to pee except once in a half
ironman where I completely bonked on the run. Since I was wearing a
speedo and jersey, and not one of those $80 one-piece things most guys
wear now I had no trouble when it came time to pee. I don't see how a
guy can pee in one of those things.
