  2. Sadly, I'm still at 191. But happily, I wasn't trying very hard, so it's
nice to know that even when I don't try too hard, just staying with the WOE
    allows me to maintain.

I was visited by the Whoosh Fairy this week. After losing nothing
last week, I was down three pounds this week. So I made my goal of
    four pounds for this month.

This brings me to the magical number of 150 pounds. Next loss will
take me into the 140's, which is territory I haven't seen in years.

And I _really_ need to get a couple of new pairs of jeans. These size
14 ones I'm wearing are getting really loose.

  5. Hi, Carol Ann!

I'm am SO very happy to report that I'm down to 196 (maybe even 195, but
let's call it 196). I must have had a 'whoosh' of about 3 pounds. It took
me to my '100lbs Lost' milestone, too. I can see my goal ahead of me---I
KNOW that I'm going to make it!!

What worked for me? I think really counting the cals and keeping my carbs
close to my CCLL (still trying to discover it, but I think it's around 30).
Also, I credit a new, less obsessive attitude toward losing.

    Thanks for the challenges!

  7. Congratulations to everyone on losses and maintenance!

My goal for this month was to lose 5lb, and get within 3lb of my goal
weight, but that didn't happen. I am still at my start weight for
Sept. I'm glad I didn't gain anything, and hope to do better next
    month.

In my case, redoubling the efforts backfired. The stricter I got with
the food choices, the more I binged. So my goal for October is to
concentrate on getting my emotions under control and stopping the
binging. I got Overcoming Binge Eating book by Fairburn. Let's see
    if it works.

Thank you! Last time we checked she was 2 feet 2 1/2" tall and weighed
    nearly 18 lbs.

That was more than a month ago. Morgan will get her next check up on
October 5th. I believe she will be at least 2 feet 4 inches tall and weigh
20 lbs. She is in the 96th percentile. It's shocking to me.

She already has 3 1/4 top teeth and her 2 bottom teeth. She's 6 months old.
Morgan can sit up on. Hold herself up on the side of the playpen and crib.
She can make it from one end of the room to the other in no time at all.
Are they supposed to grow this fast???

    How is your little one??

And I'm in size 10 jeans! LOL! AND sitting down. Funny thing weight loss, I
tried these jeans on two weeks ago and while I could put them on, my breathing
and mobility would have been severely compromised if I had tried to actually
wear them anywhere. So two weeks go by, I've lost a whopping ONE pound, and I
try them on again this morning. I'll be damned if they don't fit well now! I
can bend over, I can breathe! I won't say they have much (any?) extra room, but
I'm not uncomfortable in them at all any more. Hell, I don't care if the number
on the scale goes UP as long as I can get into smaller and smaller pants, LOL!

  13. 254 down only 6.5 lbs. Goal was 249 from 260.5.

I haven't used any "manufactured" lo carb products since going LC, but this
month I found something called Soy-Tiens - Low Carb Chips with 6 gms net
carbs. Made by the people who make Snyders Pretzels in the Northeast US.
They are really pretty good. Too good. That in conjunction with the
holidays, my birthday, and not getting to the gym as often as I'd like.

39 lbs is respectable for 3+ months, and I do look noticably better. What I
have to remember (and what this newsgroup certainly helps with) is that I am
still clinically obese and cannot rest on my laurels. I'm barely 6 feet
tall, so my goal weight of 190 is were I have to get to. As I figure, I
should be there just in time for swimsuit season next spring.

The good news is that I have been able to maintain this way of eating for 3+
months with minimal cravings. Literally, no bread, pasta, rice, no cookies
or ice cream. No Chinese takeout, chicken fingers, or fries. I am going
for my annual physical on Monday - my hope is to be taken off daily
    cholesterol medication.

    Goal for Halloween is 245.

  14. Hi Carol,

    Quoted message said:

    How did you do?

    Again, not so great ...

My weight per 1st Oct. is 292 lbs.
Thats UP 4 lbs instead of down <sigh>

    Quoted message said:

    What worked for you?

I startet weight training at a gym, have been there
12 times since 1st Sept. and have improved on
    the weights at all exercises.

    I was always eating LC (20 - 40 g carbs /day),
always in ketosis and no "binge".

I estimate my calorie intake to be around
2.400 +- 300 kcal /day and total calories used per day to be
    around 3.000 kcal/day.

(Maybe the "setpoint" theory is right - I have been around
290 lbs for many years and my body may somehow resist
going below that... One study claims that the basal metabolic
rate at a setpoint drops by 15%... In this case my calorie expenditure
would be app. 400 kcal/day lower.)

The only good thing that I can report is that
my waist size went down 1/2 inch.

Since I want to maintain some strength for the
gym I did not take my calorie input much lower ...

But I HAVE upped my exercise level - I am now doing
    about 7 hours exercise a week (3 x 1h gym and
about 4h brisk walking / cycling)
    - really about the most I can muster up
with a job and a family...

I think that I should better not participate in the October challenge.

I will not stop trying to lose weight, but will eat at near maintenance
calories for one or two month (i.e. Oct. and maybe Nov.)
and see how the resistance training at the gym goes.
After I have gotten used to lifting weights and after I have
built at least some muscle mass, I will try to reduce my
    calorie intake.

    Take care,
    Hamburger

September final: 198.2, a bit shy of my September goal of 197.

I didn't make goal because this month I have been ridiculously busy,
between a huge case that takes a new twist nearly every day (today
alone, for example, a the deposition of a key expert witness was
taken, three new motions were filed, two oppositions to previous
motions were filed, and two new orders issued) and the High Holidays.
When I work that hard I get a little sloppy in my eating - I didn't
eat terribly off-plan, but I sometimes ate a little too much. And, I
had to skip a few workouts.

But, I passed through 200, and have been cogitating on the idea that I
will NEVER see 200 again. That's currently my motivation every time I
am tempted to deviate from plan - I think about never seeing 200
    again.

    Here are the overall stats:
    235.6/198.2/~165 (I'll see when I get there)

    Hi Carol Ann

Also 1 month ago, Madison weighed 15lb 10oz and was 64 cm long (approx 2
feet 1 1/2"😉. No teeth yet. She's almost sitting (falls over after about 5
secs), and is getting good at rolling over. I've bought a walker for her,
but she just sits in it. She's only moved it backwards a few inches so far.
She doesn't seem too interested in her legs yet.

It's hard to believe our girls are 6 months old now, that time has gone so
quick! I see their hair is about the same, LOL. I wish it would grow.
When she was born it was a middle brown colour and there was a lot more of
it. Now it's a dark blonde, and hardly any of it. Your comment on Madison
not being as chunky - well you haven't seen her thighs LOL. I call them
    "rugby player thighs" 🙂

    Enjoy your little one.

Not doing anything different, just sticking to plan strictly. I will make

  18. I lost 4.1 pounds in September, ending at 257.1

It helped that I worked out at the gym 5 days each week for 30-35 minutes
    each time.

I'm looking forward to getting below 250. Are we doing an October Challenge?
If so please put me down to lose 5 more.
