  1. We have gone full circle! Coke drinkers, rejoice!

OK - a loosely-constructed timeline. The format of Usenet demands
    it be vertical, sorry...

Lotsa years ago - Diet Coke introduced, tastes absolutely nothing
like real coke. (yawn) OK, we still have Coke.

Lotsa years + 5? ago - Coke [censored] with the recipe/taste of Coke.
    Serious Coke drinkers not happy.

Lotsa years + 6 years - "Classic Coke" introduced, it also tastes
    nothing like real (classic) Coke.

    Atlanta, we have a problem.

~ 5 years ago - Pepsi introduces a diet cola that tastes ~exactly~
like real Coke. They can't really tell you that
in their ads, of course. Those "in the know"
spread the word. Oh yeah, it's called "Pepsi One"

2005 - The Coca-Cola Bottling Company introduces "Coke Zero",
which is an Aspartame sweetened product (thus a "real"
reason for the "zero" name [calories]) and, well, spank my
ass and call me 'Charlie' - Coke Zero tastes like REAL
    (CLASSIC) COKE!!!

The ignorant "I-don't-drink-diet-pop" crowd will avoid it
(like the hardhead imbeciles they are) but finally open-
minded Coke pursit have a product on the market under the
Coke name that is really ~Coke~. Coke ~lives~ ~AGAIN~!

And then, there was ~choice~. Pepsi One, or Coke Zero. Same
great taste, just pick your manufacturer. God bless America.

    not remember.

Except that marketing picked the worst name. "Coke Zero", indeed.
I would have called it "Coke Free" or anything else that didn't
have the word "Zero" in it.

I wasted my money on a 12-pak of Coke ZERO.

sweet....SWEET....sickeningly sweet. ( might appeal to children )

    The "sweet" completely overwhelmed
any Coke taste that might have been there.

Coke ZERO.... an appropriate name !

Really, in which universe? I bought and consumed a Coke Zero just
last week and I thought it had a rather insipid flavor.

  7. I knew a man that was addicted to Coke. His teeth were like Pearl
Harbour-Shot To Hell. His mouth only had black stubs for teeth. Coke and
it's cousins are sugared water that fools pay a great deal of money for. Not
a drop has touched my lips for 25 years.

If you really liked the taste of it (can you remember? lol) then
these new artificially sweetened variations are for you. They
pass *my* acid test: You can spill some on the counter top in
the middle of the summer, come back 12 hours later and there isn't
a single [censored] ant to be found. Nope, nothing like sugar would be.
