Got overtaken by a Ford Ka.... that had a bike strapped to the bak on a carrier.
Around 1' 6" of the bike was overhanging the nearside of the Ka (the bike is somewhat longer than a Ka is wide!)
The offending bit of bike gently nudged said cyclist as it passed (thankfully without any unduly unpleasant results)..... other than a stream of invective from the victim UNTIL he realised that what had brushed against him was a Kindred Being...!
Some of us have been known to twist a friends arm into doing just that - when the bike has become unrideable, and one is too lazy to carry it the six miles to ones LBS on foot.

Indeed some of us do as a means of transporting the competitive cyclist in the family to & from cycling events. What we do do when overtaking is make sure we give those we are passing a wide berth....
