I learned something new at the weekend. SPD-SL cleats and Time cleats have a mark on them which indicate the centre of the pedal axle!!! I don't have Look cleats or various others, but no doubt they do as well? Why did I not know this before?? Is this some kind of secret handshake stuff that only the enlightened know about . . . or am I just a bit thick? After discovering this, positioning the cleats was simple. Just mark on the shoes where the centre of the ball of my foot is, and then line this mark up with the mark on the cleat!! Well, this should be easy, but it wasn't because it wasn't until I discovered "the mark" that I was clearly able to see that my shoes are too big for me! There just isn't enough adjustment to get the cleat in the right position!! I have been mucking about for about a year now trying to get the cleats in the right position, trying different pedals, trying wedges, and all the time my shoes were too big, Doh!! So it is back to the bike shop for me to fork out for another, smaller pair of cycling shoes. Anyone in the market for a pair of slightly used size 41 Shimano SH-R151 road shoes (actually the previous years model so may be a different model number)?
