  1. Did the Easingwold 100 today. Too much faffing about saw me set off from
the start around 20 minutes after the bunch. Took me an hour and a bit to
reel the tailmost riders in at Knaresborough -serves me right for buggering
about at home and Easingwold which contributed to the delay. It was a hot
and muggy ride and I got through just over five litres of fluid. I ate less
food though. Bizarrely as I was approaching Knaresborough, I heard my name
being called out and it turned out to be an ex -pupil of mine who was doing
a 10 mile time trial on the A168 running parallel to the A1/M1. A quick
chat and off I wnt on my mission to catch up with the other riders. The
last twenty miles had a head wind and I finished the ride in the same time
as last weekend's Audax - five and a half hours. Got a cracking tan too! I
think I'm capable of the 150km Ron Kitchen Ride so I'm going for it next
    weekend.

  2. Congratulations, I did my first Audax (101km) last weekend at the most
superbly organised "Cotswold Outing" run by the Beacon cycling club. Longish
drive to get to the club but well worth it. Can't believe you cycled today!
I went out for a little but fastish pootle mid afternoon and came home
looking as if I'd just swum the channel!

Very little of the liquid that I drank left my body as urine and judging by
its colour I was still a tad dehydrated despite my personal best consumption
of non-alcoholic liquids!. My son found cutting the lawn too much today and
had to beat a retreat to the cooler confines of the house. He's in awe of
me. My wife just thinks I'm stupid :-)

Feeling good. Just hope next weekend is cooler.

It could be inteesting en-route.. Apparently there have been flash
    floods in the area (Helmsley)

After that report, I think you'll be leaving me well behind on the 150k
even if I make it to the start line.

...d (hoping for a much cooler day.)

I drove through the periphery of the storms and found the roads awash around
Thirsk and Northallerton. Looking eastwards it was evident that somewhere
was copping it badly. I was surprised to see the extent of the damage this
    morning.

    I don't know about that.

Well done. I did a 600 over the weekend.

Now *that* is an achievement! I sit in awe.....

How did the weather affect you? I looked at the route and decided to never
even dream about doing it :-)

I think I'll probably level out at 200km rides. Anything over that looks too
    much like hard work.

    Don't you hurt anywhere?

As you know it was v. hot on Saturday. I usually handle the heat quite
well and payed particular attention to eating, drinking and
sunscreening. I didn't suffer much at all really, I am pleased about
this. Sunday was a little cooler in the west and we got wet late
    afternoon which was refreshing.

200 is an achievement in itself. Go for it, once you have cracked it
    you'll want to go further.

Just a sore crotch from sweat rash, hot toes. Just mild discomforts
really. No aches or pains but quite tired.

That's what I've done. My max is 140 miles in a day. I'm down to do 150 miles
    this summer though.

I seem to be the exception to this. Once I'd done 200, that was enough.
Then I wanted to go faster.

I thought that too... Now I'm miffed at having been unable to start the
    Great Eastern 600.

Canesten Hydrocortisone cream, available over the counter form
Pharmacists, works great for sweat rash in the groin. Its also good for
psoriasis in that area (often triggered by sweat and yeasts if you are a
    sufferer).
