The Goodridge site lists U.S. distributors, but only for
motorcycles and cars, not the mountain bikes:

Maybe someone else can help, but when Goodridge themselves
list no U.S. MTB distributor for their brakes, you may be
looking at shipping.

Most any retailer worth his salt has a QBP catalog. The LBS may not stock
what you need, but if it's in the QBP (Quality Bicycle Products) catalog, he
sure as heck can get it for you. In the 2004 QPB catalog, there are 3
Goodridge kits listed for Hayes brakes. There are also Hayes line kits
listed too.

Dave's advice is right on, but like I said - when I talk to the local
yokels, they seem to lose interest immediately.

That's where I fear the Swahili-translation thing may be the next
requirement.

Maybe one of the fine retailers that inhabit this newsgroup would be
willing to look into it. I daresay I'd be quite happy to ship them my
disk brake set-up for installation or whatever. And even pay for the
time and effort.

E.P.: "What we have here is a failure to communicate." Maybe you are
asking the wrong questions. Very few shops will carry parts for hydraulic
discs, unless that shop does a fair amount of disc brake biz. So the
question should be "Can you get..............?" Tell them what you want is
on page 490 of the 2004 QBP catalog. This is assuming that you know exactly
what you have and what you want. If you don't know this stuff, then you'll
have to find an LBS that is very familiar with hydraulic discs. You won't
find much on-line about the particular items that you are looking for.

Also if you're not familiar with working on discs yourself, you may be
forced to find a shop that does.

If you can fit them yourself, don't be afraid of shopping at Chain
Reaction. They ship to anywhere, and they're a good outfit run by
people who know what they're talking about. They will also fit the
hoses if you send your brakes

I have approached it from that angle as well. The local folks just do
not seem interested at all in helping me out. I tell them it's in the
QBP catalog - and they do not seem to find it when they look.

I get a strange feeling that they just can't be bothered with it. Or
that they have never even heard of them, and don't want to do post-sale
support.

They know me, and that I do my own work - maybe they want a piece of
the labor???

Alfred E. Bikes. I should have guessed. I have had very good luck
finding small bits and part through them. Like a replacement Marzocchi
V-brake stud.

I don't have the feeling that Harris Cyclery is a hotbed of disk brake
activity, but they can order anything from QBP, if U know what U're
doing w/ the parts & exactly what to order. U can access the QBP
catalog from their site.
