They are planning to move a database from Atlanta to a
server in Memphis. The VP of Infrastructure sent email
stating he'd really rather they do it after 8 p.m. that
night, and to have someone hand-carry the backup tape of the
DB to Memphis from Atlanta. He indicated this particular
client deserves the VIP treatment.
I sent him email saying I'd be more than happy to fly to
Atlanta and hand carry the tape back, assuming they could
also fly me to Savhanna so I could visit my folks in S.C.
for a couple of days. The tape would be in good hands, right
next to me with the crab traps and shrimp nets. He replied,
"if you bring back some shrimp and lobster - maybe......."
Heh, you can't trap lobster in South Carolina, but they have
some damn good blue crab. And the inland creeks are full of
shrimp right now. Also, the oyster beds... when the tide
goes out you can hear them clicking. I did say, if I have to
wear hip-waders and pick oysters it'll cost them an extra
day or so 🙂
Nothing really better than steamed blue crab for dinner. And
she-crab soup is to die for!
