Scottish weather

It is likely to be unpredictable. Sorry, but that really is the best anyone will be able to do. You
may not be able to get up the Ben, but OTOH you *definitely* won't be able to get up it if you don't
go. It's not like there's nothing else you might do...

Well when we went in April this year it was 30 degrees and wall to wall sunshine. Can't remember
coming across any snow patches in the Mamores. Year before that it was pretty sunny too but colder
and more snow left but nothing to worry about. A few years earlier again in April I can remember the
snow cover being significant enough to stop me going all the way up Ben Nevis without the proper
gear. Still pretty good weather though. From my experience April has been the best time to go.

I used to reckon that the Highland snowline was about 3,500 feet at the beginning of June, and
therefore rather lower in mid-April. (I also reckoned on 2,500 feet in the Lake District around
eastertime - not counting the year when I started a holiday in the Lakes in mid-April with the
snow line below 1,000 feet.) The climate seems to have changed since those days - last time I was
in the Highlands, in early May a few years back, there was very little snow about - but I would be
surprised to be told the Nevis would be clear of snow in mid-April. It's your call whether that's
a problem.

Apart from that, you could have 3 days glorious sunshine, or 3 days of Scotch mist with the
cloudbase at 200 feet.

It will be one of the four seasons! In a 3 day period you could well see all four!
