Scion - Do Bikes Fit?

How many bikes and how many people? Two or more bikes fit in
most cars, especially with the rear seat folded down. The
problem is carrying three people.

Two bikes, two people. I guess, more specifically, my
question is: will they fit sitting upright, with or without
the front wheels removed? I'm sure they'll both go in,
horizontally, but I'm hoping to limit the amount of dinging,
scratching, etc., from laying them on top of each other.

Are their any issues with laying bikes down on their sides?

A good solution is a canvas painters dropcloth. Lay one bike
on top of it, fold it over, then lay the other bike on top
of that. Works like a charm. Catches the dirt, too, if
you're carrying dirty mountain bikes.

I have a Scion XB. Using the portable front fork mount that I used previously carrying 2 mountain bikes inside a Chrysler Town & Country minivan, I found that the 2 bikes fit inside the Scion XB with the rear seats folded down. I do have to stick the rear wheels into the space between the front seat backs, but it does not protrude much.

Just lower your bike seats and while there is not so much free space as in the larger van, if you have normal size bikes and use either the premade front fork mount I have (can't determine the brand) - or just get a couple of front fork mounts and put them on a board, you should be able to carry 2 bikes upright, inside the back of the XB.

Thanks for the info. I finally got around to taking my bike
with me for a test fit (actually, was on the way to the LBS
to drop off the bike for some work, so went by the
Scion/Toyota dealership). Found what you mention: need to
lower the bike seat for it to fit upright.

This dealership is next door to a Saturn dealer. On the way
out, stopped there. Four hours later, left with a new Vue
(surprisingly, at least to me, for less than the Scion
equipped the way we wanted it). Ordered the inside bike
fork mount carrier from the dealer and will pick it up
Wednesday. Now no more scratching up the trunk with the
bikes hanging off the back. (Yeah, I know, I could have
gone with a roof rack. But my wife's got shoulder and back
problems, so she couldn't lift her bike that high if she
was going out by herself.)

That's great ! We also have a Saturn LS Wagon, but no way can we carry 2 bikes upright in it, -- too low. If I replace the LS, I'll look at the Vue. Then we will have 2 vehicles that can haul bicycles, upright inside.
