Ok, firstly 'arsehat' is a term that is usually used as an
insulting term in reference to a person. I just like the
word, however, and thought an adequate way to describe
said Saracen.

Andy then jumped in with 'arsecan'. Can you see what he's
done there? He's slightly rearranged my term for the bike,
whilst still referring to it in a derogatory way, but (and
this is the comedy genius bit), 'arsecan' is also an anagram
of Saracen.

Thank you, thank you. Andy and I will be touring the comedy
circuit of Dunstable later in the year.

£150 reduced from £250, otherwise I'll have to spend around
£250. I don't want to spend more than that. Don't want

Saracen's aren't particularly great. Besides, 2003 models
should be heavily discounted as it is, let alone 2002. 150
quid is a touch on the expensive side for a two year old
model, IMO.

What do you want to do with the bike? Without being elitist,
250 should be the absolute minimum you should be considering
if you're contemplating doing any sort of mountain biking
(bridleways, etc).

The other alternative is second hand. There are some great
bargains to be picked up if you know what you're looking
for. Check out the classifieds on
singletrackworld.comsingletrackworld.comOpen ↗ - you can even put up a
wanted post with requirements (size, type, price, etc) and
see who responds.

Won't be riding on mountains. Will be using for commuting
within London. I would also consider a hybrid. Can't really
see any point in spending over £250 for now.

Hmm, you're probably right. Normally you expect to see two
year old models go for less than half their original value,
but there has to be a base figure.

If it's just for commuting then it should suit you fine.
Having said that, if you're planning on riding in London,
and you don't have somewhere very secure for it, I'd just
get an old beater bike. Anything that's vaguely shiny can be
nicked or stripped within a few minutes of being locked up
to railings in London.

in Devon on a 1994 model. But its green.
