  1. I am an exceedlingly lucky woman. yesterday Vernon announced he was taking me
to Cambridge today and wouldn't tell me why. I moaned and whinged about it,
having loads of things to do on Christmas Eve... So I got up this morning and
went out to collect the turkey just after 7am... Got home whereupon Vernon,
Nathan & I got in the car and headed off towards Cambridge. Driving down the
A10, Vernon pulls off at one of the villages as he had to collect some
documents from a client. He said...

Vernon got out of the car and went into some property behind a large solid
fence & gate. Nathan & I sat in the car and waited. A little while later,
Vernon reappears & beckons me to go in. Nathan & I duly do so. Walking in to a
yard filled with recumbents of various types I thought "Well, at least I can
have a look about the bents whilst Vernon's doing the work stuff he has to do."
I'm introduced to a jolly chap by the name of Kevin who then starts wittering
on about a Trice that's nearby. Telling me all about things can be adjusted to
fit. I sort of looked confused and said to Vernon, "Wha?" To which Kevin looked
at Vernon and said, "I *am* sorry! Have I just ruined something? Didn't she
    know?"

At this point Vernon said, "No you haven't spoilt anything - she just didn't
know about it in advance." At this point I think I levitated several feet off
the ground as the skies lit up and choirs appeared singing, "Hallelujah!
    Hallelujah!" in full voice.

I am now the proud owner of a Trice Ice T. See

You know the old joke, of course: Keep doing it until you need glasses.

Holiday cheers to you, as well!

Make it a true ice bike and throw some studded rubber on it for winter!

You'd have to take off a wheel to make it a bike.

It's tough enough pushing one track through slop and snow.
I wouldn't want to think about sweating three.

From those who have them already, apparently the recumbent trike is easier and
more stable in such conditions than an upright bike. Alas today is not the day
I test that for myself, as it's cold but gloriously sunny out, so as the turkey
is in the oven... the stuffing made and the veggies prepared.. I'm off to use
Mr. Frosty for the first time :-)

Enjoy the ride. With 20" of snow on the ground I doubt I'll be doing any
riding around here for a few days.

Thanks, I did. Mr. Frosty has been metaphorically baptised :-)

He is fun! He is a smilemobile!

Different experience to cycling an upright bike. Totally different. The gears
need adjusting properly - a job for Vernon this afternoon. I'm slower on Mr.
Frosty than on Gino (My Bianchi). However, it is strangely comforting to be
cycling extremely slowing and knowing that I won't fall off if I don't unclip
    *now* ;-)

Different muscles being used in the legs, or the same muscles in a different
way - not sure which as yet. My legs are more tired, but there is absolutely no
workout on the upper body, as the steering on Mr. Frosty is so incredibly
light. You literally just have to be lightly touching the steering. Also, I'm
not breathing so heavily. I suspect this is due to the seating position, not
being as hunched over, so the lung space is not as constricted as on a normal
    bike.

I am decidely slower going up any sort of incline but coming down is sheer fun
    - fast, low to the ground, it's like having one's own personal rollercoaster.

Mr. Frosty is a smilemobile - he illicits huge grins from passing motorists,
causing them to beep their horns in a remarkably friendly manner, with drivers
grinning inanely and waving. Kids hang out of the windows of cars, waving and
calling out "Merry Christmas!" at the top of their voices. I do think that
having my windsurfer flag on was a humorous touch. I *think* drivers give me
more room and they don't seem to mind waiting until I've gone by, when
required. This waiting was accompanied with huge grins, waves and yet more
"Merry Christmas!" and the odd "That looks like fun!"

headwinds?? What's those? ;-) Certainly the headwinds today weren't as
bothersome as I'd expect them to be if I'd been on Gino.

Eye-level - well, it's sort of like viewing the world from child's height, but
that's not a problem as yet.

    Festive cheers, helen s

    Happy Holidays to you, too.

Santa brought me some cold weather biking clothes. As soon as the snow is
gone and it gets a little warmer I'll be trying them out. It's -3F at the
moment and just too cold for me!
