  1. I think i have one of these in its beginning stages. I wont gross everyone out with the specifics but does anyone have any tips to avoid getting these and what to do when you do get them?

  2. Prevention:
Clean shorts, clean bum, decent quality shorts & saddle, appropriate bike fit/saddle position, avoid sitting around in sweaty shorts post-ride. Chamois cream may help for some people.

    Treatment:
Keep it clean, avoid putting too much pressure on it. A really bad one may necessitate a few rest days.
If it's like a pimple, it may be worth squeezing it then putting on some antiseptic like betadine.

  3. Prantal (an anti-fungal powder) works a treat if applied prior to a ride

  4. I buy a large box of those
"baby wipes" at the drug store and
have a good wipe /before/ putting
    on my cycling shorts (commando).
Plus you /must/ wash the shorts each
and every time you wear them. Other than
    that, no cream, powder, etc.

  5. After a couple of really nasty sores that required medical attention I started using Chamois Butter. Also follow other suggestions about keeping really clean. My doc recommended Phiso Derm for washing your self. Not one sore in two years.

  6. Bag Balm works great for those looongg rides. It will not come off like Butt-R does.
