Obviously go for shorter and thicker rails. But MTB seats are cheap enough ($30?) that one every three years isn't a big problem. And its not dangerous to have one snap, is it? Maybe you just got unlucky.

Back in the late 80's Ti baseball bats briefly became legal in DivOne Cub baseball (Japan industry teams intro'd them for a bit). They were a pitcher's nightmare!!! Lighter, meaning guys were stepping up swinging 3inches longer than normal and had sweet spots almost the entire length of the bat!#@#!!! After witnessing a game where 9 homeruns were hit (unheard of) at RossStrawField (That's loooong, folks) the Powers that be decided Ti bats were to go the way of Dennis Lillee's Alu cricket bat!
Titanium is 30% stronger than steel and 43% lighter.
Some Ti alloys are 30% more tensile strength than common CrMo (4130), but that doesnt mean it makes a better saddle rail. Its not simple tension, like a spoke. And watch out for the narrow gap between yield and ultimate strength in Ti. (It will snap rather than bend)
Point being, strength, unlike weight or flexibility, isnt a simple scalar measure.
