  1. I am looking for a durable brand of running shoes. I am a relatively new
runner with a few extra pounds (5'10" and 210 lbs.). I have flat feet,
which from my reading means I should be looking for a stability or motion
control shoe. I average between 6 and 20 miles a week, but am looking to
increase mileage as soon as the rainy season and the flooding is over. Is
there a brand that is particularly durable or longer lasting than others?

Brooks have a good reputation for the heavier runner - I'd check them
out, along with Asics. Good general purpose shoes are Saucony. I run
a lot in Nikes, Adidas and Reebok, but I only run in flats so that
wouldn't be much good for you.

  3. To make an educated suggestion for you, we'll need more info than "I'm
fat, and I have flat hooves."

I thought if the best of all possible worlds would be to find a pair of
shoes that both fit and would last.

Well sure. But if you're running something like 50 miles a month in these
shoes, you should be able to get six months or more out of just about any
model, any brand. It's not worth worrying about whether you _might_ get an
additional month or two out of some different pair which doesn't feel as
good or work as well for you.
