  1. I was wandering whether it is more beneficial to run first
thing in the mornings or am I better of running in the
evenings. I'm running to lose some fat.

    Thanks in advance.

I heard somewhere that if you run soon enough in the day,
you will sleep better. I don't know how much truth there is
to it. But as far as losing weight goes, you can run pretty
much when you want, since losing weight is all about
    achieving a negative caloric balance.

  3. The best time to run is when you'll actually do it.

If you can't drag your butt out of bed early enough to get a
run in (I sometimes get up at 4:30 AM), then you won't run,
and when you do get up, you'll feel terrible and have a
    crappy run.

If, at the end of the day, you're so tired from work that
running is a chore, then you'll have a crappy run.

Forget about the fat. It will come off regardless.

Why do I run in the morning? Because

    a) I hate running with cars aound, although I do have to
contend with some, it's nothing like in the daytime
    b) it's usually cooler,
    c) it's the only time I can do it.
    d) it's neat seeing the sun rise over the lakes I run around

What's bad about running in the morning? I end up falling
asleep on the couch at 9:00 PM.

I've read in here that is doesn't matter, but I feel better
about myself if I run in the evening. I like to quickly get
rid of the day's fat intake. I lost 50 pounds and I have
stabilized so now it's just a maintenance type thing. I'm
not a morning person. I barely make it to work on time.

I think you'd be better 'wondering', though - given your
tubby condition - maybe a wander would do you more good...

  6. Since you will need to run every week for the rest of your
life, choose what ever is most convenient. If you hate
running when you do it, you'll stop and get fat. Over the
decades as jobs, family, and residences change, so will
    your schedule.

  7. It depends where you live and your cirumstances. I love jogging in the early
morning ,but i live in Arizona, so when summer gets here i jog in the
evening usally at 7pm (thats when the sun starts going down)

  10. I can't get to sleep for an hour or two after a run.
There doesn't seem to be any difference in the quality of
    sleep though.

Personally, I hate running in the morning, but it's the only
time I can do the weekend long one. Otherwise there are too
many pedestrians and way too many distractions (that first
make you bounce the run to Sunday morning, then Sunday
night, then Monday night, then.... forget it).

About one year. I got sick at the end, though, when I hit my
target weight. I was trying to hit 175 pounds and I had
stabilized for a long time at 185. The last ten pounds
dropped off in a matter of days and I actually dropped near
    170. The doctor healed me, and he admonished my plan. He
said I lost the weight too quickly. I thought a pound a week
was a reasonable goal. Whatever the case, I've been at 175
for about 14 months now and I feel great. I run faster and
    longer than I ever have. I'm 39.

In the Orlando summers, because of either extreme heat or
rain, I often have to run close to 8:15 p.m., and a five
minute run takes about 40 minutes (I'm slow). As a result, I
do not sleep well at all. This is only a problem for about
four months -- the other eight months are lovely.

Maybe he was talking about the last 10 pounds? Maybe he
thought you were fibbing about the length of time taken to
lose the weight? 1lb a week is an excellent rate to lose (or
    gain) weight.

1 pound a week, heck even 2 pounds a week is fine. Sheesh!

Me? I lost 50 lbs in 6 months. I've kept it off (mainly
through running) for 8 months now.

I do not intend to gain it back.

I just live one meal at a time, if you know what I mean. I
can occasionally eat whatever I want, but most of the time I
have to watch the old waistline. Running keeps me both fit
and sane. I wish my legs would allow me to run longer than
five miles at a time, but I'm thankful to get at least
those, considering the hell I've been through with shin
    splints over the years.

Good job! 80 lbs in 9 months here. The first 50 pounds was
at a rate of 2 to 3 lbs per week. After that, it was more
like 1 to 2 pounds per week until I hit 165. That's where
I've been for 3 months. I probably don't need to go any
lower. The protruding veins are grossing out my wife.
