  1. Bill Clinton will have to have bypass heart surgery Monday, despite having
been an avid jogger most of his adult life.
Hereditary is probably the main factor in heart disease. I know his dad died
young, but couldnt find the cause.

Bill grew up in the South. he likely ate enough animal in his early years to
initiate early arthersclerosis, likely exacerbated by any genetic predisposing
    factors.

See: The Bogalusa Heart Study; kids as young as 12 develop calcified
    arteries, with a high-fat diet.

the only thing that reverse atherosclerosis and CHD events: Lipitor. proven
clinical data. (no, i don't own Pfizer stock, unfortunately, nor do i have any
    financial disclosures to report).

WHOAAAAA Nellie! BC was a recreational jogger, who stopped many years ago. That
is a far cry from real runners. He's still my hero.

[censored]! Runs of 90 minutes or more regrow arterys.

small ones, but not the big ones that feed the heart like the aorta. and while
running reduces BP, and has many other positive benefits, it does not appear to
reverse calcification of arteries (eg, clogged cholesterol).

Sorry, you need to get out more. There is plenty of documentation of people
giving themselves "natural bypass" by running. I mean actually reversing
    clogged arteries.

  7. what you are describing is called "angiogenesis," the process of growing blood
vessels (stimulated by growth factors, such as TNF [tumor necrosis facotr]).

intense exercise, among other factors, such as estrogen, does indeed promote
    blood vessel growth.

but a natural bypass, as you say, is not synonymous with reversing artery
calcification. (a natural bypass equates as the growth of many smaller
arteries to compensate for the clogged large artery that feeds the heart; you
will not find regrowth of another aorta.

if i am wrong, please enlighten me with appropriate literature citations. i am
    always willing to learn.

Apparently, Bubba gave up running for Krispy Kremes after he left office. I
love KK's myself, but restrict my intake to once a month. Bubba doesn't
strike me as a man capable of moderating his own behavior, and we know he
    has zero self control.

He was also an avid eater of cheeseburgers and fries,
    and significantly overweight.

Most of the cardivascular benefit of any aerobic exercise comes in the
first 90 minutes (10 miles) per week. Diminishing returns beyond that.
Only a small fraction of midle-age adults get as much exercise as BC did.

A lot of young joggers eat anything including the bad stuff that
Clinton did because they burn it all off. Perhaps they will have
    problems.

The Cooper Institute finds that activity, not weight, is the indicator
    of
cardivascular problems. Overweight people who get 90 minutes of
    aerobic
a week have almost the same low rate of heart problems as active lean
    people.
Inactive skinny people and fat people have more heart problems.
(I wonder if the Cooper Institute studies this because its VP is a
    chubby
    jpgger?)

  14. In further news articles I read his maternal ancestry had early heart disease.

Many people start running programs because of alleged health benefits.
Then you learn the long term benefits are debatable.
The short term benefits of feeling better, looking better, and being
able to do more physically, may be the only sure bet.

Do you think the trysts with Monica have raised his colesterol and
helped clog his "pipes" ? 😉

A "Monica" is high in fat and colesterol. I would say "Yes".

As usual, this idiot is dead wrong. The health benefits are many. As far as I
know EVERY study ever done found runners at very least, get sick less often,
and when they do heal faster, including more than a 50% reduction in the amount
of hospital time runners spent as compared to sedentary people.
Now MY story. Got married at 28, and after years of never having run, played
sports, or done any real physical labor, I was fat and nearly dead from 3 packs
a day of cigs, years of alchohol and drug abuse, and merely walking up a flight
of stairs was not possible without a rest, and SEVERE chest pains. Breathing
was even forced. I woke up one day and realized I was going to be dead in a
year or two if I didn't do something radical, and I did. I'm 48, and in perfect
health, never been sick (disease or hospital stay) a day in my life. But rest
assured that if not for running there'd be two less kids in the world, and I'd
be long since dead and unable to care for the others who need me then, now
they're all out on thier own except for the youngest, and it is all because of
    running.
Rick as usual, is a [censored].

That'a a two edged sword. In a nutshell(bodda boom) they both munched
enough to clog their own pipes. Maybe she should have stress test.

Nevermind the cigar, I think they had Hersheys syrup in squirt bottles, got
nude, and went to town spraying each other other down before licking it off of
    eac...
Damn, I gotta go do something, it's getting very hottt in here...
