  1. In another thread Wobbot was bemoaning, as usual, the perilous state of his
fincances. Set me to thinking. How much *do* you need to lead a
reasonable life as a retired middle-aged runner?

    An example.

Due to circumstances upon which I've no intention of elaborating, I
liquidated all my assets a couple of years ago and placed the resulting sum
into a discretionary trust for my kids. Consequently - for all intents and
purposes - I'm as poor as a church mouse. Sure, I have some funds salted
away for a rainy day, and a reasonable pension, but as I rent my home and
have to shell out for greedy kids I find I spend very little on myself.

I sat down this morning and calculated that I'd spent an average of just
over sixty two pounds sterling per week on myself over the past year. That
includes food, clothing, travel - in fact everything apart from
accommodation and cars. I excluded those 'cause we only rent a large
property to ensure space for a rather noisy family, and I'd be happier on my
motocross bike than in a car were it not for the need to carry boys around.
During this time I travelled to five countries, lived quite comfortably and
can't, offhand, think of anything I denied myself.

So, Wobbot, were's the difference between you and I? Why do you see the
glass half-empty and I half full? More to the point, why don't you *do*
    something with your life?

    Huh? Where and when????

    And rightfully so!

Now is that weight in paper money (that'd be a lot) or in say quarters, that
    weigh a lot?

Ahh that LSD is great stuff, isn't it?

You are always whining about sex, or lack of.

    Basically, I'm sane.

I'm completely baffled by this. Where did you ever get this idea?

Gee, a retired faux Dr, who admittedly does nothing but hang out all day
harassing his ugly wife anf retarded kids, and you ask ME that? Again, I just
want to know where you got that idea.

I don't think my "fincances" ever acted up before. Where are my fincances
located? Near the liver or kidneys?

    Thread 'Klew me in' where you said, and I quote;

"Dude, I'm on SS and you are telling ME you can't afford it?"

thus, to my simple mind, moaning about your grim financial status.

Wouldn't know. I was never brave/stupid enough to experiment with
    recreational drugs.

Yes, but *I'm* not denying myself sex. Other people are.

I think you jest. Least, I hope you do.

You. You're a miserable old Wobbot of late. Where is the ripping pun,
the sexual innuendo, the completely uncalled-for insults, the harassment of
the weak and disadvantaged? Or is speaking to me so much fun you can't
summon up the energy to do anything else?

    Ninny!

Tell me, alive-but-miserable-Wobbot, do you believe *everything* I write?
I tell you stories - vignettes of my life, if you like - designed to amuse,
irritate or educate depending upon my mood. Most of it is true, though I
have been known to restructure events or composite characters to suit my
purpose. Sometimes - just for fun - I have a day when I tell nothing but
the truth. Other days I lie through my teeth 'bout everything.

I'm sure a trick cyclist could offer you a perfectly logical explanation of
my behaviour (Note from Consultant Psychiatrist: Yes, Roger is clinically
insane). For my own part, I'll simply say I enjoy teasing y'all. Try
not to take me too seriously, dear chap, lest you find yourself writing
grumpy posts complaining about my life.

They're the two redundant things nestling beneath your pride and joy.

I thought so! And thank you for confirming to all the hot chics on RR that my
boyz are my "pride and joy".
