rucksack waistband pockets

I have an pretty light Lowe rucksac (many would call it ultra-light, but its
not really), around 35l capacity. No back vent system; I'd rather save the
weight ! I think they do a smaller version.

It has pockets on the waist band. I find them fairly useful so long as they
are not over-filled. Small wallet or two small cereal bars is fine. Also
handy for a compass (I usually tie those onto the pocket zip tag so that
they cannot be dropped).
I find the pockets particularly useful when x-country skiing as I can eat
snacks without stopping and taking the pack off.

I'm pretty certain that dozens of makers offer them on various packs,
differing sizes and weights. As always, check it fits your back and your
kit !

I have a MacPac daysack with these on. Very useful for small change,
batteries, gps, mars bars etc.

Mine is the 35l size, but it looks similar to

It's a good, comfortable pack with two little extra touches that I
hadn't seen before, reflective strips and built in whistle (part of the
plastic clips).

Not the highest spec brand but I have a Regatta bag with those pockets
(and the vent system) and also another I can't remember the correct name
of. It has Navajo on it but not sure if that's the model or manufacturer.

As said already a lot of manufacturers have them now.

Got one from Lidl (or Aldi) a few months ago; used it for the first time
(for shopping)on Wednesday. It has an adjustable back and the 2 little
pockets.
I found them useful, but realised that some care was necessary with what's
left in them. One can wear a marsupium all the whike, but a sack, e.g on a
train, can be elsewhere.

A friend of mine just bougt a karrimor Ridge 30-35 from

least I think this is the one.

It has zipped pockets on each site of hte waist band, big enough for a
Silva compass.
