RTL - Shaved legs?

I raced bikes for about 10 years - and shaved the whole time. All of
the reasons people have mentioned are legit, plus a couple that haven't
been brought up.

Bikers shave cause:
* Hairy legs and road rash are an awful combination (definitely reason
#1).
* Massage feels much better on smooth legs (a close second).
* Shaved legs make you feel fast (even though it does nothing
aerodynamically).
* Shaved legs feel and look good.
* All the top bike racers shave, so everyone wants to be like them.
Show up to a race with hairy legs and you advertise your "noob" status.

In high school I sprained my ankle really bad. Pulling the tape off
after practice was pure torture. After shaving it was no big deal. I
didn't like just my lower leg shaved so I did both entire legs.

Shortly after my shaving I went swimming and I definitely _felt_
faster. It was also more relaxing and cooler.

Ride everywhere and never just ride anywhere. If you can ride where you
are going within a hour, do it, and if you can do a trick 50-75% of the
time do it along the way.- Bob Burnquist

If you use regular razors, the first time takes a while but after that
it dosn't take very long because there's not much to shave.

If you have an electric razor it dosn't take any time at all.

Nope - too much trouble without bike racing as a motivator.

I've been growing my hair out to keep my warmer. I hear it is cold in
Canada! Like, below 68 degrees even! Oh man, I'm going to freeze.

I used to shave for bike racing. I stopped half-way through one race
season and learned my lesson. During a road-race in Kentucky, the
peloton was chased by two speeding curs (i.e. aggressive dogs). The
rider in front of me went down and I launched over the handlebars,
skidding across the road and into a ditch. When I came to, my legs
were in shreds.

Having not shaved for a few weeks made for some really painful cleanup
of the wounds. After that lesson, I shaved before every race.

The funny part of the story. The dog owner came out to see what the
frackas was about. When he saw his dogs watching over those of us who
crashed he gave us a reprimand for upsetting his mutts.

I'm with phlegm and the others who wouldn't think of shaving facial hair
let alone leg hair. I've been developing both for over 25 years and
riding with hair works fine for me.
