Question: Shaving your legs for RTL?

- Male - Yes
- Male - No
- Female - Yes
- Female - No
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who's shaving their legs either for the feeling of speed or ant other
reason for RTL?
I'm toying with the idea, but still very unsure if I want loose my
manly locks of leg hair.

Also, please discuss your feelings on this.

Bikers don't shave their legs for aerodynamics. It's so that it doesn't
hurt to pull band aids off of cuts they may get from riding.

They shave their legs because their legs are buff and they want to show
them off. They may get cuts on their arms, too, but they don't shave
those, because their arms are wimpy.

Although it doesn't really make you more aerodynamic, I read somewhere
that it can make you -feel- like you are going faster through the air,
which could give a rider a bit of a confidence boost.

The main reason is not aerodynamism. I can't fin a way to explain it in
english though.

Yes i understood it was to stop the hair sticking in grazes from crashes
making it uncomfortable to move when riding. I suspect the arms are less
liely to get grazed, and don't have to move continuously like the legs
do.

I have worked with alot of profesionals in the motocross world and the
main reason of shaving arms and legs is for the comfort and how much
cooler (temp) it makes you feel. the sweat must evaporate off your skin
faster or it doesnt get wicked up to your arm hair . Has anyone tried it
? It does work.

I am not about to let my 17 years of growing my manley leg hair go to
waste now! although, I do wish my leg hair wasnt so thick, maybe it
just needs a trim, instead of a shave...

Any bike racers in here? So far we have about five different reasons for
shaved legs. My understanding was it was to keep from getting hairs in
your road rash. More chances of infection and harder (more painful) to
clean the wounds. I agree this leaves your arms still hairy, but I
guess legs get more road rash and/or arms aren't "cool" to shave in the
bicycling world.

As for me, I grew facial hair specifically for the race, and for my
legs, I plan to wear leg armor for the Criterium race and otherwise
have minimal crashes during RTL. :)

Remove hair from legs, yes. But I have found that a completely
hairless taint :D can increase saddle comfort and make riding long
distances on unicycle much more fun and I dare say, faster. And, no .
. shaving doesn't work down there with all the nooks and crannys. Any
of you RTL riders going to the wax spa before the race??

Riding is more comfotable with shaved legs and makes wounds less messy
and awful to clean.
Plus it makes you look damn sexy and not-gorilla-esque

Or you could do like my friend Brian did and shave a checkerboard into
your legs ha ha.

It was sort of like this:

except in his leg hair.
