I had put in to take today off work weeks ago. My wife was going to be teaching a class all day and we only had a half day of daycare. The the other night my wife says "Why don't I get a sitter and you can go on a long ride on Wednesday." Hmm. Yeah great idea!
So I went up and rode Doctor Park (also unofficially called "Doctor's"😉 solo on the Epic. The ten Mile climb is always a grind. It's about 1000 Ft. in the first 8 Miles, a cold creek crossing, then another 1000 in the last two. A big horn lamb came running up to me like I was it's mother on the road portion. Weird. No other big horns in sight. Some other folks on a four wheeler stopped while he was hanging out n the road and said it's not uncommon for the mothers to take a fall and get killed. They turned back to tell a ranger and I continued on after snapping a few photos. Poor little guy! I storm blew in while I was on a really exposed part of the climb and scared me with a big thunder clap. Then it cleared up when I hit the top and after a snack I hit the singletrack DH. The top section was pretty rough from moles (or maybe mice) digging it up and lots of elk tracks. Then it smoothed out after a couple of Miles and it was sweet, fast, and smooth singletrack bliss for several Miles until the technical ending (which has been "improved" so it's not as technical as it once was). I never get tired of this ride! Weee! Then I still got home in time to spend a few quality hours playing with my boy. A great day!

Might make a good lawn mower! I considered (very briefly) trying to take him, but if I just turned back it was 8 Miles to the car at that point and I imagine carrying him would have been tough (on us both).
