Got out for a few hours on Saturday Morning (MrsB had the afternoon slot starting at noon) to Hartman Rocks and had myself a wonderful time. There was nothing particularly remarkable about the ride. I hammered for 2.5 Hrs on the SS for a total of about 20 Mi (8 on the road to get to the trails and back). It felt great to be spinning and grinding the 1x1 around Hartman's again. Since I got out relatively early there were very few riders out. I saw one group, who were being led by a friend of mine. Other than that it was just me, two runners, and the local wildlife. I saw a few big hawks, a lot of crows, a bunch of small rodents, and some deer. I had the flow and cleaned everything except one very sandy, steep climb that gives me trouble on the geared bike sometimes too. The route was Jack's (Kill Hill bypass on singletrack), Back of Hogsback (aka: Ridgeline), Luge, Sea of Sage (both great SS climbs, BTW), Rattlesnake, Beck's, and The Notch to complete the loop. Temps were in the 50's and skies were bluebird clear. Perfect.
I sure was feeling it chasing my 2-year-old around all afternoon while MrsB got her ride in!

Sounds like a great day. It was windier than [censored] down here in Phoenix and cooled way down yesterday. I expect your area to by cold and windy, too. So is most of the snow gone except for the higher areas(>10,000'😉?

Yesterday (Sunday) was crappy and sleeting, but Saturday was beautiful but got a little windy in the afternoon.
I think the snow line (where there's SOME snow, but not necessarily enough to ski) is at around 9000 Ft. right now. That's a few hundred feet higher than what we climbed when you were here last summer when I was feeling crappy.
Hartman Rocks is some of the lowest elevation (if not THE lowest) riding in the area. The rocks also trap a lot of heat so it dries faster than anything else.
The higher stuff just got a bunch more snow yesterday so it will be a while for anything much higher then 9-10,000.

Thanks. Unfortunately I wasn't asking for riding conditions as much as I have to go up and work on getting my property ready to sell. I don't want to work in the mud, which it probably is. Hopefully Mr/Ms Skunk has moved...........

We had almost 1.5 inches on Sunday, and I think Matt's area had similar. Since everything is pretty wet to begin with, I would imagine there is still a fair amount of mud. But at least Spring is beginning to beat Winter back!!!

Lucky for us Hartman's is best when a little damp. It actually needs to be ridden a little wet to pack things down right now. The past couple of days should have done some good. Anything else around here needs to be dry and it will likely be a while longer. Crested Butte got 6" or so on Sunday.
