  1. Ow. OEM Giant XTC grips are too small and put a lot of pressure on the
    palms. Oury, please.

Fast uphill, fast downhill; rigid not good for rocky, rooty, or otherwise
    high-frequency-vibration riding.

32/15 is a leetle too tall.

Yes, hopping obstacles is harder, but at 15psi, the (tubed) tires give some
    nice bounce.

Pic below... It's actually a friend's bike that I borrowed for a ride.
Ignore the weird posters on the wall... weird roommates.

Looks like a bail-out option, the bike has no shifters on it to make
    it harder to cheat. 🙂

Hmm... Are you falling victim to all of our hype?

34/16 here and doable for me.

Well, you did just call it "hype." 😉 In all honesty, partially, but not
fully, the reason being a lack of money for a steed similar to the one
    pictured.

Although I didn't get stuck at the tops of hills or roots or anything, I'm
less of a masher and more spinner. And the chances to go riding are about
    once every 5 or 6 weeks... e.g. I'm weak. 😉

You sound like a "freerider". Got cigarettes?

Hey now... I don't pretend to be a freerider (cuz I'm not)... I just like to
ride adulty-bmxy pavement stuff every once in a while. Not as much now
since I went to jail... I'm just more careful about it.

  8. Hey is that the Bride of Frankenstien I see on the wall? Oh yeah, you said
to ignore those. It looks like that bike has at least 2 chainrings on the
crank. Does your friend use both rings and manually change gears or was the
    smaller gear just left on?

To address you and the other person, they were just left on. Changing them
manually in the small hills of FL would be a PITA. She basically left the
drivetrain as-is, taking the FD and shifters off, and using the RD as a
tensioner. I guess she didn't get around to taking the granny off.
