Eesh. I've done the same on my bmx bike, but off only a 4 footer or so down to sidewalk. A long time ago. I was riding a ledge and decided to wheelie drop. I pulled up the front wheel and rotated but neglected to ride the back wheel off, which got hung up. I had enough time to let go of the bars and straightened myself, hitting the ground with my feet and almost lock-kneed. But the fluted seatpost, clamp, and rear brake scraped their way up the inside of my right thight right up into my privates. Luckily it wasn't an mtb. I chalked it up to nothing but a momentary lapse. You do something 100 times and you expect it to be automatic, you don't account for what being a little tired or distracted can lead to. Sucks for Jason. Speedy recovery!

No full face helmets in the trials world. That is overkill. Don't compare skilled trials riding to "hucking". "Hucking" belongs in the stupid human tricks category, not the same as trials riding. It was an accident. Accidents happen, it could have happened to anyone one of the others on this ride.

I wrote it (full face) just because I wasn't sure myself - I don't even claim to know what trials biking is. Accidents are the reason for the helmets - in any kind of riding. I hope he recovers soon..
I dropped my bike and ran over to where they were. I saw Dave on the ground, he face was crushed and blood was gushing in all directions.Every part of his face had been broken and split open. Jason removed one of his sweaters and wrapped it around Dave's forehead that had been split open with a 3 inch gash.

Dave ended up getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 stitches, his upper lip was done by a plastic surgeon who was on the premises (lucky lucky) and looks pretty good.
His nose wasn't too horribly broken. After he came out from getting stitched up he was working on 2 nice shiners, bruised lips, swollen everything, and a prescription for vicodin.

feet high...I commented out loud that he was going too high up on the barrier and carrying it too far...he kept going. He is well known for his biking skills and doing these kinds of drops that he's done plenty of time...but this time...I had a bad feeling about this...
