riight. At least that was the plan. Tuffgirl and I met at
the Boulder Beach lot at 8:30, in attempt to beat what's
predicted to be a 97 degree day. The original plan was for
8, but you know how things go. We were thinking two laps
on the XC course in prep for BIKE CAMP, but by the time I
got to the top of the ridge, I just knew that two laps
weren't going to happen. I actually felt kind a nauseous
form the heat, I'm sure drinking copious amounts of water
didn't help. So we took our time, she really struggles
with the heat.
I've finally learned that not running my tires at 35 psi
really improves the ride. (d'oh!!) The Svelte Hawaiian is
back and fully functional. Go ahead and smack me, but I sent
the fork back for total factory rebuild that is warranted. I
know, I know but a new fork is just not in the budget these
days. Between the tire and pressure and the fork, things are
very smooth. I made the two rocky hair pins, but lost my
line just after and dove into the dirt and pine duff.
So stoked.. we leave Friday morning for BIKE CAMP!!! We are
going to get up early, drive up and get a fun ride in. We
meet up with the rest of the campers Friday night at
Gerricks in trail for schmoozing, appetizers, fit and
mechanical adjustment. Sat, skills and drills in the
morning, ride in the afternoon, same thing on Sunday.
