It is oh so nice to have summer back in our neighborhood! We missed all of Saturday doing the family thing.. Both Carla and I were staring out the window daydreaming a nice ride on the trails... We woke Sunday bright and early... Decided to meet up with a biker buddy and ride up to the car show... Paved path... down to the Jone's beach... So fixies natch. nice 15 or 20 miler... who's counting anyway? The show was ok... If you like Corvettes or Scions... The day was hot humid and very nice. Just perfect... It was getting on noon and I think we all had enough of classic cars (and Scions)... Too hot for trails... roads too busy for GRS... We pedaled toward home and decided to hit the kayaks... We spent about three hours paddling around.. The wind was pretty stout and the bay was choppy... but oh man the water was warm... How was everyone else's weekend???
Great but not over yet since it was a 3 dayer. Took the grand kids out riding and were they spooked from one lone turkey. Got a car show every Monday at 6 at the beach along Long Island sound. Sis is in NYC and wife is doing a double so I'm going to pedal the 12 mile trip on GT hybred. 85 sunny and humidity at 65% with my own little weather station.

Excellent. I've been meaning to get my kayak in the river. It's raging right now, but I always just end up riding instead. So much time, gear, and at least one but usually two cars being needed have been keeping me off the river the past few years. I'd rather ride and have tome left over to play with my boy. I used to fill that slot with paddling before there was such a thing as time with my boy.
I dodged storm cells at Hartman's for a big SS loop (28 Miles). It was fun, but I got hammered by weather several times. My left ear is still sore from being pelted with hail. In all it was a great ride - the weather was changing constantly, so that kept it interesting. I had the place to myself too!

Good stuff, amigo.
My weekend was very wierd. Fri nt through Sat morning chaperone a big overnighter with my daughter and kids from her youth group. Around 3:30 a.m., she collides at high speed with a boy, and cuts her head open above her rt eye. Take both kids to ER, she gets lots of stitches. Kinda snooze through Saturday, try to go for a ride Sunday, get drafted into service helping some older single gal move. Not enough help so it takes til almost midnight. Jimminy Chrismas, I need one of those bumper stickers, "YES I HAVE A TRUCK. NO, I WON'T HELP YOU MOVE."
So, the new BOMB Group mtb friends meet tonight for the Mon nt group ride Nothing will stop me from joining them.

Where on Long Island? Why haven't we hooked up for a ride???

The worst part of the kayak is the time factor... Since it's the ocean it's pretty much all out and back
