That's a bit frustrating, isn't it. I got some of those nice oatmeal
coloured walking trousers with the dinky side pockets etc some months
ago. They really need taking up a bit, but they have zips at the
bottom, so I've not attempted to find someone to do it.

Which should mean that you get more choice out of the (often unrealistic)
spread of sizes on offer. My size is always conspicuously absent come
sale-time. I.e. they didn't make enough and those that were made all sold
quickly.

Smiley noted, but perhaps you'd tell me... when I skied around the
Hardanger glacier over the course of a week (including a night in a
snowhole) in my Rohan Super Salopettes, what nonsense fashion statement
was I making? ;-)

As with most manufacturers they have some stuff which I view as good and
some as bad and some which I regard as good for purposes other than the
ones I have. Regarding the price, I have a fairly large collection of
Rohan clothes I wear for day to day use and I've bought almost all of it
in their sales. Overpriced is often a fair description at RRP, but
since I avoid that it's a bit of a moot point...

Beyond that, I'll point out that most of the Rohan stuff I have is not
used in serious outdoor expeditions, but that's not because it's bad,
it's designed for different jobs. The Rohan Polo shirt, for example, is
something I find more comfortable than pretty much any other slumming
about shirt I've found, so I tend to slum about in one. Similarly their
old Goa trousers, and their shirts are smart enough to work in a
hospital while being lighter and easier to care for than something from
M&S (I'm still using Rohan safari shirts for work that are about 15
years old). I wear Bags at work for similar reasons and I have several
pairs, but I'd never use them as "walking trousers".
Roos cuts quite a dash in smart Rohan trousers and blouse playing
trombone in a local brass band, where the lower requirement for ironing
makes a very useful difference to her! You wouldn't find her out for a
big hike in the same clothes though.

Yes, sorry, overly opinionated I was there. I loaf around in a Coolmax
t-shirt and whichever microfleece pullover comes to hand, most days. Also
not their intended use, but I find them comfortable and neither too warm nor
cold whatever the weather. My concession to fashion is a pair of Top Man
jeans which keeps the young lady in charge of trends in the house happy.
