Milram worked really hard to set it up for Petacchi but McEwen prevailed.

Bettini though was a surprise - he sprinted really well, I thought.

Yes Bettini does have a remarkable sprint for his size and he has the stamina to hold that peak velocity. But McEwen is simply stronger and stronger for longer than Petacchi. Train or no train they were alongside each other for quite a good stretch, and though clearly McEwen played his tactics well, it was his greater strength that that won him the race.

Yea, I totally agree. RM never ceases to amaze me. He just makes it look so easy. However, I will say I love seeing him sprint more in the 'mass' sprints because he just emerges out of nowhere and wins.

Boy did Milgram blow it though..

I am a big fan of Robbie's being Aussie, but what is going on with Alejet? He is useless of late. It seems as though his knee injury from last year has cost him big time.

Indeed, I am also beginning to wonder about Ale-Jet.

Fair enough losing sprints every so often or screwing things up with his train. But this is becoming the rule, not the exception (I keep on thinking back to how well Milram set him up at the San Remo, another occasion where he simply did not have enough to win).
