Road tyres for MTB

Vredestein S-Licks are good road tyres. No punctures in 1,500 miles and they're very grippy. They
would be awful in mud but they're OK for fine gravel.

I started a thread about my experience of swapping knobblies for slicks recently. You can find some
people's varying recommendations for tyres in there. Personally I found very little speed advantage
in the ones I picked if that's what you're after and after persevering for a few weeks plan to swap
them back so that I can dive off into the woods again when the mood takes me of a morning without
having to think about which tyres I want before hand and faff about swapping them. I presume most
road tyres would have a better wear rate though.

The S-Licks are very good indeed. As is the Panaracer Hi-Road S.

may i suggest the Continental Town & Country's:
built for stability and traction as well as value;
smooth tread surface for a seamless, asphalt-gripping ride;
extremely high mileage and very high puncture resistance;
designed and molded to provide excellent grip under all weather conditions.

I used to swear by S-Licks, until I bought a bike fitted with Schwalbe Marathons.

Not much to choose between them in terms of rolling resistance or puncture resistance. But the
Marathons last twice as long and have a nice reflective sidewall, which the S-Lick's don't have.

The big downside of the S-Licks is that they have been an extremely tight fit on every rim that I've
ever used them on. They're a pig to get on and off when I *do* have to remove one to fix a puncture
(which I've had to do 3 times in the past week).

I'll get a duplicate set of wheels to make the swap easier. Thanks.

You don't say what the other 30% is but if S-Licks are ok then Schwalbe City Jet 1.5's are also

Seconded - my MTB has these as of last March (use it 99% on-road). City Jets are a lot of fun round
the corners, smooth-running, don't seem hugely puncture-prone, reasonably-priced. Do it.
