Why bother? the uncaring don't care. The plain stupid would not comprehend and the ill educated
clearly have not got 1/2 an ounce of gumption and are probably better grouped amongst the other two.

If you find you have something wrong with you then either you want to survive or seek a resolution
or you do not.

What'd be the point Al? If the message was nailed to every door of every diabetics house, they'd
STILL bury their collective heads in the sand and pretend it's not serious and it's not going to
affect their everyday lives.

The article talks about data from NHANES - National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which
seems to me as a collection of different health and statistical data from a statistical sample of US
population. So it was not directly aimed on peaple with diabetes. The result then is more relevant
for type 2 diabetes, as 90% of diabetics in population are type 2.

I would just like to see similar comparisom for type 1 diabetics. The possibility, that the result
of todays treatment is the same as it was 10 years ago seems to me too pesimistic... Or does the
today's frequent BG monitoring affect the health at all???

assessments of Diabetes are skewed and do not reflect the positive aspects of good control,
especially when related to insurance, etc.

I think diabetics in good control get a bum rap because most risk assessments are performed using
data from such studies and do not differentiate between good and bad control.

Actually, you'll probably find that most diabetics don't think at all (about diabetes, control or

Diabetics in god control don't NEED data from studies. They use their meters and eat/exercise
accordingly.
