That's sad to hear. My poor Melvin (beautiful Iguana) passed on a few years ago, and I'm still sad.
He was so cute =(

I made a wooden box for his casket, lined it with velour and sealed it closed with a piece of
hibiscus in it (his favorite snack). I buried him the full 6 feet and then put a small cross on top
of it made from two toothpicks

It's true in dogs, too, although not to that extreme. In multi-dog households, every mixed gender
situation I've ever seen was dominated by a female. Also, female x female fights are infrequent;
most of the time a look or a raised lip suffices to settle the matter. But every now and then
there's a [censored] brawl, and it's a scary thing to see. There's a good chance somebody's going to get
hurt (and a lot of times it's the human who reaches in and tries to separate them).

My father has 10 huskies and a mut, 9 [censored], 2 dogs, mixed ages. Because of the pack mentality,
fights are frequent (perhaps once a week), serious fights (requires a vet trip) are every 2 months.
Females run the pack and in his experience with other dog folks, the [censored] are more agressive and
much nastier.

Having said that, I suspect this is more of the case with northern breeds like huskies than other
companion or working breeds.

Ah, the female dogs. When we had dobermans, it was just one at a time, no problem. Then came the
yorkies. We had three females, and it was just as you described. The fights were always in the
kitchen near the food bowl. Being small like they are, was never a problem to break'em up.
