of rider skill. With puntures for most riders are so few and occur
randomly, none of these testimonials are worth much.

So, if there are any (ex)die-hard TT2K users out there, with what are you replacing your TT2Ks?

I have one more set left. I hope there will be sufficient user feedback
on the replacement and/or popular alternatives before I have to decide.
I had very bad luck with Pasela TGs, one of the commonly-cited choices.

Thank you.

I was wondering how long it would take you to respond to my query with one of your
favorite truisms. Your quick reply doesn't disappoint.

My 'skill' hasn't changed on my commute route, only my tires. Before switching to TT2Ks I
punctured about once/2 weeks. I often ride through all kinds of debris, usually deeming it
safer to continue straight through than perform course corrections to avoid it (NB: I'm
not barreling down Alpine hairpins, just going to work on busy streets). Since using
TT2Ks I ride through the same debris w/out punctures. If I can locate a set of tires that
mitigates my lack of 'skill' in avoiding tire hazards, I'll be content.

Any specific suggestions on 'other slicks with fine casings'? I find that TPI counts in
marketing literature can be misleading.

I got one a couple years ago, 700Cx35 IIRC; ran it about 3500 miles on
the rear, at which time it was starting to show some wear. Had to
replace it because I had damaged the sidewalls trying to get the #!%*
thing off the rim to fix flats. Didn't have many flats on it, but the
ones I had were miserable because of the tight fit, trying to work the
blasted tire off.

I've had the same problem with Conti tires, both the Goliath and the
Avenue. This is why I don't use them.

You might try the Avocets with the inverted tread. They're still fast and
smooth on the road, but like the TT2000 they have enough tread thickness
to ward off most punctures. They're available in both road and MTB sizes.

It's now the Conti "Contact". I bought a couple for my
tour/commute bike this spring.

I've gone from the 32mm TTs I used to ride to a 37mm width
and I like the change very much. Wish I'd used the wider
TTs long ago.

But I've heard from the LBS that it's still an inferior
tire compared with the TTs.

I don't know yet, but time will tell.
