ridley or De rosa

Both excellent frames. But you need to tell us a bit more... what kind of riding, rider, etc. What are you looking for?

Obviously, I would suggest De Rosa, but then again... 😄

Also have heard less than positive things about the reliability of Ridley frames, but that could just be hearsay.

i have raced as senior as well as a master we were doing about 300-350 km per week but now not nearly as much but appreciate a great bike have ridden c40 ,merck's(ALU) ,pinnerela,(ALU) just got specialized sworks (very comfortable but not exiting)i like riding a bike that not every one rides.

I need to know performance also where can i get a review on ridley.

Those are some mighty fine choices you're facing! I never rode a De Rosa King XLight (I wouldn't even know where to go to see one in person, they seem so rare). I have tried a Ridley Damocles. I don't race, and my time on the bike was somewhat limited, so make of my comments what you want. I thought that the Damocles was far too stiff. Very fast, but not very comfortable. Then again, you say your SWorks is comfortable and yet I found the SWorks to be equally stiff, so the Damocles may actually suit you.

That is, IMHO, a little like asking whether you should purchase an Acura NSX or a Ferrari. Obviously both great cars (frames), but there's just something a little special about the Ferrari (De Rosa). Mystique, history, whatever, if you're into that sort of thing. Interesting thing is that the current Ridley distributor in the US was the former De Rosa distributor. Ridley Damocles is, I think, made in Taiwan, then painted in Belgium. De Rosa King's tubing is made by Mizuno in Japan, then assembled and painted in Italy. Again, if that sort of thing matters to you. 😎

There was a review a year or so ago in UK Cycling Weekly ... with 8 top level bikes, including the Damocles. The Time VXRS won, C50 second .. .Damocles lower down the scale (7th). Good review, worth digging out, sorry can't find the link anymore, but they didn't like the Ridley much "shook the riders to bits".

I've ridden a Damocles .. for me, all the Ridley bikes are pretty aggressively race-oriented. Stiff and not very comfortable. Depends on what you want. Personally I would take a De Rosa .. or Merckx or Colnago anyday over a Ridley, but I'm not you, and there are plenty of Ridley fans out there as well.

here here you can buy a belgian bike made in taiwan thats been going a few years or an italian masterpiece made by the people who put merckx on his way to winning. Risley are good bikes but if you are looking for some cache there is no comparison, I recently saw all the de rosa bikes at an exhibition and the king was wonderful. Having said that all CF frames seem to lack a bit of class. The Ti frames (made only by Ugo de rosa) and the steel frame with the Molteeni team colours were truly masterpieces.

FWIW, I think the super damocles has been discontinued or rebadged NOAH. The aesthetical difference between the super Damocles and the Damocles is very subtle but price wise it's stratospheric.
