Check out the Chgo Cycling Club: chicagocyclingclub.orgchicagocyclingclub.orgOpen ↗ I haven't done any of their rides,
but they look fine. The lakefront path is excellent, except on Saturday AM when it gets crowded.
Good luck,
Joel

North Shore Century should be coming up next month in Evanston... Usually the 3rd weekend of
September.

What kind of riding? Road? MTB? rails-to trails?
For road it seems like the further you get from the city, the better off you are. IIRC the Metra
railroads will take bikes on weekends if you need a way to transport the bike. Geneva (on the
west line) is a good start. Look at www.metrarail.com for more info on that.
For off road experiences, there's Palos forest preserves south and deer grove north. Better yet,
go to kettle Moraine in Wisconsin.
For rails-to-trails there is the Inninois Prairie Path and Fox River Trails as well as a number
of others.

Yep. The North Shore Century is Sunday, Sept 21. evanstonbikeclub.orgindex.htmlOpen ↗ This
is a good ride to learn some of the better shortcuts in northern Cook and Lake County.
Kyle doesn't say where he's located of what type of riding he's doing; a good place to start a bike
club search would be mikebentley.combikeOpen ↗ or Chicagoland Bicycle Federation

6-county area.
