  1. I see there are lots of South African cyclists in the forums, which is great. Well I've recently got a bike (obviously) and I was wandering if there are any Capetonians here who can reccomend some good routes to cycle. At the moment I have only really cycled on the roads around Kirstenbosch, Newlands, Constantia Kloof Nek etc. And I would also love to cycle along Victoria road on Camps Bay (from Hout Bay to Sea Point) - the view is breathtaking, almost like Chapmans Peak, and the road is also P.E.R.F.E.C.T - winding, long and flat and it's got a large shoulder. (Problem is getting there though)

Well we've got probably the most beautiful city in the world, but I'm not too experiened so I don't want to go up to "Chappies" or to Stellenbosch just yet. However I am looking for any routes which you Capetonians cycle on (BTW I am in Rondebosch/Claremont) other than the popular Newlands, Kirstenbosch etc. roads

    Thanks a lot.

  2. Hey z3ro,

There are a few from CT.

Me, I'm from Jo'burg. Lots of routes around here. BTW, I would have preferred to ride in CT. As you said, view is breathtaking.

I'm sure they will respond. If not, send midbunchlurker a private message. If I remember correctly, he is from CT.

    Ciao.

  3. Firstly - Chappies is open!! 🙂 Rode there on Sunday, the views haven't changed and the road is in great shape.

Some nice circuits from Rondebosch include:
    - Constantia Nek-Chapmans Peak-Fish Hoek-back on Main rd, with a tailwind (60km)
    - Simonstown & back (on the main rd), nice for a flat one, great with the S/Easter for coming home (75km)
    - city-suikerbossie-Constantia Nek (50km), best on weekends with no traffic in town
    - Rhodes drive to Constantia Nek-constantia-bottom of Ou Kaaps-then either back home or carry on down the main rd. (50km?)When you're feeling like climbing then go over Ou Kaapseweg

My distances might not be 100% since I'm out in Table View these days. With Chapman's Peak now open there's lots of loops that you can create with various combos of Constantia Nek, Suikerbossie, Kloof Nek, Chapmans Peak, Oukaapseweg, Black Hill (Glencairn), Red Hill, etc.

    Enjoy!!

  4. Thanks for the info + routes. I suppose I'll have to do Chapmans Peak! I'll try out some of those routes.

Anyway thanks again MidBunchLurker. Good look with the Argus BTW.

  5. Milnerton to waterfront, Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Chappies, Sun Valley and back to Milnerton via same route, about 95km (did it solo this morning - awesome weather after yesterday's rain, ave 30kph).

  6. Wow, not too bad! What time did you do the Argus in? I think I will try a similar route tomorrow morning, weather is also going to be great.

Well from these two or three messages I can see that there are many more routes to do in Cape Town than I previously thought. Cheers...
