"9/11/05 'Amy's Ride' - Amy Gillett Foundation ride - 7th January 2006
John Trevorrow is proud to announce a ride to raise funds for the Amy Gillett Foundation, which was established soon after Amy was killed (and her team mates seriously injured) in a training accident in Germany earlier this year. The ride has been sanctioned by Simon Gillett and the Amy Gillett Foundation and is held in conjunction with Stage 4 of the 2006 Jayco Bay Cycling Classic on Saturday 7 January 2006 at the Geelong Botanic Gardens - 9:30 - 11:00 am. You will have the opportunity to ride with Robbie McEwen, Cadel Evans, Henk Vogels, Baden Cooke, Brad McGee, Graeme Brown, Brett Lancaster, Oenone Wood and all 280 stars of the 2006 Jayco Bay Cycling Classic. All the ride information can be seen at http://amysride.com and entries can be taken by telephone, mail or online. The foundation receives $10 from each entry and all sponsorship money raised by entrants. Amy's Ride is a great opportunity to support those who support cycling.
Enter a *team of 10 or more riders (at $58 per rider) and enjoy complimentary nibbles and drinks after the ride.
* We're not hard-line about this - a team can comprise of any ten or more names and riders can enter individually. It doesn't have to be an official squad or a group of company employees. Just email us the names in your team (and a mailing address) and all the team members will get an identifying wristband that makes them eligable to pass through a dedicated marquee and collect free drinks and nibbles. Riders can then mix with the crowd or sit and enjoy their time anywhere in the Geelong Botanic Gardens.
darn..I entered as domestique for Pink Inc....drat...maybe we could be defacto WoJs too.....
Suggestion tho, any team, practice, ride together, and get into close riding pattern asap...do a couple of long rides at least 50-80klms together and your prospects of safe completion increases nfold...

drat...I'll be in Siddely from 2 thru 8 Dec...darnit .....have to get my Goat at the wine shop at Tulla next to Gloria Jeans in QFickers terminal...just wont be the same tho'...gotta stop this work thing and bring on retirement...thought I was ready to do that a few years back but a new short marriage and a bub changed all that......oh well at least now being single and a dad to now three fine sons and maybe a bike rider in at least one of them is a good thing to smile about.....🙂
PS may have to get Southern Vets to put Goat supplies in the honor bar esky at Sandown.....😄
Check with VLine once you have decided on a train time to make sure they have the van on for bikes. From memory if they don't have a 1st class carriage on there isn't a van... or something. Anyway, not all the trains have facilites for bikes (although at times I've been able to just take mine on the carriage with me, but that might not be an option if there are a number of people with their bikes).
I might just ride down there via serrento, 130k from Vermont to Geelong and then do the 120k organised event and catch the train home, now that would be a nice ride. Only problem is I have a ride up to Lake Mountain on the following day. Anyone interested in riding there.
