i thought D1 teams had a minimum salary of like 60k euro and health insurance? I forget where I saw that, been a couple years. Anyone know the deal on min salary?

In the event that no agreement can be found, the amounts of 2006 will remain in force. In particular situations and in the interest of the development of cycling, the UCI ProTour Council may decide exemptions on the joint proposal of the signatories of this agreement.

I do believe that it isn't legal to fix minimum salaries in some countries and some riders could be riding for less
France and Ukraine come to mind??? Anybody know for sure?

I know for sure for both countries. The salary can be set within a standard workers' rate sheet, but there is no obligation for either country to enforce in behalf of UCI.

all interesting info. I think I must have had in mind the minimum salary for a foreign rider to sign on a team in Belgium. As I recall, Page had a tough time landing deals with Palmans and Fidea a couple years ago cause they would have had to pay him quite alot to make it legal for him to work in country/get work visa to live there. Plus somethign to do with having to provide health insurance, or pay for it or some such.
Made it a real uphill battle for a non EC rider to make the transition onto a euro team and do it legally and be able to stay in country all year (as opposed to short periods of time).
