great RVs were to take a driving test. You have no idea how wide your damn
vehicles are and your bloody mirrors have killed far too many cyclists - SO
[censored]!
As if a cyclist should talk about bad driving. Most cyclists seem to be
unaware of the fact that they are vehicles and have to follow the rules of the
road. That means stopping at stop signs, not passing on the right, staying off
sidewalks, riding on the right side of the road.
Last night we were on our way out for dinner I saw two cyclists run a stop
sign. A few minutes later I saw a cyclist who appeared to be making a proper
left turn at a traffic signal, though he didn't bother to signal. He moved over
to the left side of the road and slowed down. But instead of waiting for the
light to change, he darted across the road and went the wrong way on an exit
ramp from the other road and was riding down the wrong side of the road. I made
my turn when the light change and the cyclist veered across the road in front
of me without even looking to see if anyone was coming, as if I was supposed to
assume that is what he was going to do. A mile down the road there were two
cyclists riding on the wrong side of the road. A few miles after that I came
across four more cyclists , 2 groups of two. The front two were riding side by
side, one in the bicycle lane and the other in the car lane. Both made a right
turn at a controlled intersection, neither one signally their turn, and neither
one stopping for the red light. The next two followed their example, on of them
swinging out in front of me as I was passing. I passed the other two as well,
and when I came to a stop sign and waited for the intersection to clear, the
both passed me on the right and sailed right though the intersection without
stopping. Not a bad record for the cyclists..... out of 9 cyclists, 7 of them
failed to stop at stop signs, 5 of them failed to signal their turns, three of
them rode on the wrong side of the road, and two of them passed unsafely on
the right.
